I am a dear BEAGLE of about 8 years, who was given up sadly because of unfortunate circumstances.  I am a dear and trusting girl, still with a nice energy.  I love my walks and just to cuddle up with you and relax.  I might be older, but I have Wisdom on my side.  Maturity has its charms!

There is a lifetime of love left in me for some lucky person!  We can pal together and be best friends, I will appreciate you as much as you treasure my presence.  I have a beautiful , expressively tender face, I am told.

Spayed, I have updated vaccines—Bordatella, Max 5, Rabies—dewormed, heartworm tested negative, I can pack my suitcase in a jiffy!!

  Adopted
  Shams

This beautiful Black Lab female is a year old and will be spayed soon.  She is up to date on all her vaccines. Shams has a WONDERFUL temperament--VERY GOOD WITH KIDS and CATS!  And a dream around people--great family dog who has to be given up only because of severe allergies, the family is heartbroken.

Shams is a true treasure of a dog, who has so much to offer!

  Kevin

This 33 pound, 10 month old HUSKY MIX is an absolute delight to have around—playful and very affectionate, kind-hearted and loves to hug!  Likes other friendly dogs and probably would be good with cats upon meeting them safely on leash for a first introduction.

Kevin was one of 3 pups seized along with 50 others by the SPCA from a hoarding situation and taken over by Gerdy’s to vet and place.  He only knows he is treasured and loved by all of us helping him, and is forming happy memories now he has another chance at a normal life.

He hadn’t been out until we took him over, so didn’t want to try to walk on leash nor step on grass, nor get into a car.  Now Kevin can do all those things with confidence.  Kevin needs encouragement to try new things while he is still a pup, and practice socializing.

He could benefit from having another dog in the new family to be his mentor.  Kevin is neutered, vaccinated Bordatella, Rabies, Max 5; dewormed, no fleas—and is anxious to get on with his new lease on life!

This Black Lab Mix boy (possibly some Great Dane in the family tree) was dumped at night at a gas station, frightened and unwanted and no identification.  He was found by a kind man and his wife, who asked if Gerdy’s could help him get a good loving new home.

He is a very good boy, very smart and very sweet natured, not a mean bone in his body!  He had a small patch of hair loss on his head that is filling in nicely now, NOT ringworm!!    He will be neutered when old enough, he is around 5 months of age now.

Vaccinated—Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella; Dewormed, no fleas.  This is a very sweet and playful puppy!

Hi folks!  Meet ME, a WONDERFUL mature 6.5 year old Golden Retriever. Ah! you say! But is this a fool of a dog? A big overgrown pup?  NO!! I'm VERY good with your children! AND — get this — BABIES too!! Trustworthy, a PERFECT FAMILY DOG!

My temperament is First Class Wonderful, and I am extremely LOVING! I am TRAINED and able to go off leash BUT only in a country setting or dog park—not just any old place, but you should establish a relationship with me first so I stick by YOU.  Now listen—I need lots of exercise and I LOVE long walks to keep my trim waist.  I get along fine with other dogs but I have not been really exposed to cats.   But I might like them.

Now folks—I’d LOVE to be in a home with someone there all day, I won’t do well being left alone while you go to work, because I love to be around people.  I am very good  in the house without you there, just I am so doggone SOCIABLE, I will stay beside you as you work on your computer, have your cup of coffee, --how many offers do you have of being WORSHIPPED?  THAT will be MY job!

My health is top notch and I am neutered, vaccines up to date-Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella; and I am heartworm tested negative, dewormed, and flea free.

  Adopted
  Jessie

It was Jessie’s lucky day when the pound called Gerdy that they did not want to put down this treasure, but get her into a rescue.  None could be found to take her, Gerdy’s was the last one called, and Gerdy was only too happy to take this girl under her wing.  Jessie is a lovely girl, a Border Collie weighing 46 pounds and estimated around a year old.

Jessie is very intelligent, knows her commands sit, lay down, give the paw, and sit pretty.  She is friendly to other nice dogs, untested with cats but we are optimistic she would be ok with them as well.  She has the most striking orange-brown eyes!!   Loves people, a relaxed dog,  calm nature for a Border Collie,-- a real nice family dog with not a mean bone in her.  Jessie was found wandering a country road, dirty, with no ID.  She went unclaimed until she reached the end of her time left, likely a dump.

Jessie will be spayed, Max 5, Rabies, & Bordatella vaccines given, dewormed, no fleas, heartworm tested negative.  This dear girl is going to make some lucky family very proud to call her their own!

  Drako

Drako is a handsome White German Shepherd whose owners did not have time for him anymore.  He is about 70 pounds and is 1 ½  years old.  He loves kids but has never been around cats, so a cat-free home is necessary.  Drako is HOUSETRAINED, good in the car.

He is neutered, vaccines up to date, heartworm negative, dewormed, no fleas.  A handsome dog for people experienced with German Shepherds.  Draco is a charmingly playful boy.

Becky

These 2 pups were saved at the last minute from being euthanized at a pound!   Beckham and Becky are brother and sister, they are Border Collie mixes about 5½ months old.

Eager and playful, these black sweethearts are very sweet natured and playful.  Around 25 pounds each, these babies will be sterilized  by us at the proper time as part of the adoption fee, vaccinated, dewormed, no fleas.

We also have 2 other pups from this litter currently in foster care, as well.  Cute as buttons, with nice temperaments.

  SUGAR RAY

I am a Boxer but a true gentleman!  Weighing in at 39.2 pounds of muscle and good looks, I am in the Flyweight Division as I am 8 months old.  Don't bet on me tho!  I will throw a fight because I am too kind, it just isn't in me to scrap! But I LOVE my training sessions--a good jog, horseplay, are my favourites.

I need more work in Obedience to polish my skill out of the ring at walking etc, but I am a quick learner and very smart.  I am VERY affectionate, not a mean bone--so you can see why my nature holds me back from developing my career. Heartworm tested negative, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, I will retire but will referee your life from now on with loving devotion.

My name is Betty and I am a sweet healthy domestic shorthair girl of about 3 to 4 years. I am spayed and have had all my shots. I was rescued at the very (very) last second before euthanasia! If the nice lady hadn't have come to the back of the clinic I would have been a goner the very next minute.

I am wonderful with dogs but a little timid with cats. At the moment I am in foster where I share the house with 2 dogs and 2 cats. There is some hissing going on between us but I mean no harm; I am just afraid. It is normal at first for all new cats til we get to know each other.

I would need a home with space to let me be at peace if this is what I desire. I will do fine with dogs and maybe another cat. Since I am a timid cat I don't think that young kids are a good idea as they might chase me or try and lift me and I am not accustomed to this. I do enjoy sleeping beside an adult in their bed and a good scratch on the head. I am to be an indoor cat only!

  Lucky

Hi!  I am very calm, loving, and attentive to those who would love me, and a prize purring machine!!  I am a male domestic shorthair (I PREFER “velvet cat”) of 8 years and I weigh around 11 pounds.  I am an easy-going guy, I am a lover, not a fighter!  If I were human I’d prefer classical music (no opera tho, hurts my ears!!) a good mellow port with my cigar, and of course a wingchair near a warm fireplace as I read a good book!

I used to be a Gerdy cat—so you KNOW I’m a great cat!—but the people who gave me a home all those years ago are now in a nursing home so I have come back to Gerdy to get a new loving home again, --she PROMISED me someone would love me again.  So if you want a Gentleman Cat, look no further!

I am neutered of course, and up to date on my shots, dewormed (how undignified to have to say that!!) and (horrors!)—no fleas.  There now, I have managed to say it all.  I have light green eyes and a Perry Como  purr—you can tell me all your secrets and I won’t tell anyone as I am a very loyal boy—please give me a chance, I will not disappoint you!  I will bring you much Lucky in your future!!

  Adopted
  Balou

This is a truly wonderful and loving family dog.  Due to unfortunate circumstances, his owner could no longer keep him, so asked Gerdy for help in finding his beloved dog a new home.  Balou is a calm dog, friendly to other friendly dogs, would likely accept cats.

He is very affectionate, and handsome!  He is a Collie Mix, at 74 pounds, and 4 years old.  Very dramatic to look at—HANDSOME!  And super-intelligent—you can see it in those eyes—and gentle.  Someone will get a treasure in this boy!

Neutered, vaccinated Bordatella, Max 5, Rabies; dewormed, no fleas, heartworm tested negative, Balou is ready for his new life with your family—he will make you proud!!

  Adopted
  Lady

This Black Beauty is DECLAWED ON ALL FOUR PAWS.

Lady is back with us as a result of an adopter’s allergy. This Domestic Shorthair girl has been tested FIV/FELV negative, has Rabies vaccine as well as the regular cat vaccination, dewormed, and flea free. Lady was born in 2006, and so badly wants a new home!

  Adopted
  Teddy

We don’t know why this boy was abandoned, but Teddy is a delightful dog!  HOUSETRAINED, Teddy is about 2 years old, and is looking for his forever family.

Eager to please, and ready to play, Teddy is neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccinated Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella, dewormed, no fleas.  He is a German Shepherd mix maybe with Golden Retriever—such a handsome chap!   He just wants to be your Teddy bear!

  Adopted
  Baby Girl

This sweet blond American Cocker Spaniel is about 11 pounds, and 1 year old.  A gentle and a bit shy (at first!) sweet girl will be spayed with all vaccines etc. She is very matted and we will get her a nice grooming to make her feel a lot more comfortable.

Baby Girl was given up because they were unable to care for her anymore.  She responds well to affection and has a nice attitude.  This little gal just needs a forever home of her own to bring a sparkle to her eyes to match the wagging of her tail!

  Adopted
  Sammy

I am a 3 year-old Shih Tsu Mix, NOT a hypoallergenic doggie!  I am 19 pounds, so am bigger for sure than a Shih Tsu, more the SIZE of an American Spaniel—a VERY handsome chap I am as well!  My owner couldn’t keep me anymore, she was VERY allergic and sad to give me up, so chose Gerdy to get me the good home I deserve!

I am GREAT with kids, friendly dogs, and cats.  Hey mom—I’m HOUSETRAINED too!  I am excellent in the car as a polite passenger, and travel well.  I have no food  or toy aggression, and I LOVE to give kisses—I am SO affectionate!  I cried a bit when my owner went out so maybe not for a condo or apartment, but I was not tearing the place apart with separation anxiety—you might like to crate train me for those times I would be alone.  But please, I don’t want to be left by myself all day!!

I am nicely playful, and love walks, and just being near my people.  We can cuddle on the sofa and watch tv, or you can take me visiting with you as I am very polite.  If you work at home, I’m your man, as I’d be content to keep you company and curl up near you as you get those assignments done—not a peep from me to disturb—well, I might like the odd smile or pat from you at coffeebreak time!

I am neutered, with vaccines, Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella, dewormed, no fleas, will be heartworm tested in May.

  Bear

Hello, I am Bear—and well named I’m sure!  Overweight at 145 pounds, I am full of affection, and great with other dogs and cats, and I love people.  I am thought to be a bloodhound mix (maybe with Lab) and I am an easy-going kinda guy!  I was given up due to changes in my owners life, but I was a much-loved boy.

A handsome rust colour, with trusting brown eyes, I am in good health and look forward to walks to slim me down, and to curling up near you as you relax.  You can confide in me, I will listen to every word.

I am neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccinated Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies, dewormed and no fleas.  I will be your own Winnie the Pooh!

  Adopted
  Spencer

Soon to be neutered, this dear boy is a cross between a Boston Terrier and a Pug—which makes him a BUG?? Spencer is one year old, and loves small dogs, cats, and children!  He does not bite at all and has a very gentle mouth.  His only problem is that he finds it hard to spend time alone, so a  wire crate is essential.

He will need a house with someone not worrying about neighbours as he is being crate trained at his foster and barks for a bit before he settles down, which should end as he learns to relax in his crate while the family is out.  Cannot be left alone loose as he will anxiously chew.  However, when people are home with him, his behavior is PERFECT.

Spencer is a little cuddlebug!  Walks well on leash. Willingly wears a winter coat but still does not love his hat and  boots, but will wear them!  He never bites or nips!  Will sleep with you if you want. Spencer does not like closed doors inside, and will ask you to open it!  Very afraid of large dogs as he was badly bitten by a big dog as a puppy.  Very quiet little boy, but in the home he will bark playing around the vacuum or when you leave.

Spencer had been rescued as a pup and has come a long way in his confidence since.  He is a handsome chap with the snuffles of a Pug when enjoying his walk!  One of the most adorable dogs we’ve had, this little chap is vaccinated Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies; heartworm tested negative, dewormed, no fleas. His savior loved him very much, but had to give him up for health reasons. Your heart will melt when you meet Spencer!

Here I am, not a Chipmunk, but a great boy of a dog with pretty stripes!! I am about 52 pounds and estimated about a year old.

Why I ended up about to be euthanized at a pound, I do not understand.  But my time there had run out waiting for a new home, I was going down.   Gerdy came and took me and Bridey into safety. I had my head up front looking at Gerdy so grateful driving back!

Well Gerdy says I am a VERY good dog and will make someone a great pet.  Very gentle, affectionate, and for an untrained dog I walk VERY well with a bit of gentle guidance—imagine what I could do with real training classes!!  I have a MAGNIFICENT head—they say—so regal and dignified, and gentle brown eyes.

I try to please as well, as I want to make a good impression and get myself a loving forever home. Good with other friendly dogs. I am a Shepherd mix you can see in my face, but the rest of me is a Designer Original—God had something handsome and dramatic in mind tho, and broke the mold after me!!

Neutered, vaccinated Max 5, Rabies, and Bordatella like Bridey, with heartworm test negative, and dewormed & defleaed in case.  Fully grown, I am ready to wear my heart on my dogcoat sleeve for you!

  Adopted
  Tippy

TIPPY, SHELLY, and FERN—were,  along with 5 other dogs, removed from an apartment along with 2 dead dogs, amidst dreadful filth—including feces,  because they were NEVER allowed outside.  Such is the tragedy of animal “collectors”—people who have this mental condition do not notice or care, they just take in animals but are not mentally able to see suffering, even dead bodies.

All of the dogs removed from this situation had never been outdoors so were afraid to walk outside.  Since then they were all rehabilitated and Gerdy took 3 of them looking for homes.  NOT HOUSETRAINED understandably, but smart and quick learners!   They are as follows:

TIPPY

This 30 pound black boy, being young, is still at the puppy chewing stage so should be crated when no one is home.  He is VERY sweet and friendly, we think would be great as a family dog, he is likely 8 months old or so.  A Border Collie mix mutt—he is active, playful, and full of beans and the joy of life!  His good nature was not dampened by his situation, but he needs guidance in training to walk on leash well.

He is very cute!  Fully trusting.  Will need housetraining, but is smart and will be a fast learner! Neutered, vaccinated Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies, dewormed, no fleas, heartworm tested negative.

  Kodie (aka Toby)

This 4 month-old big ball of fur is a Golden Retriever pup. A nice energy for his age, very sweet natured, eager to please little boy.

Toby is very smart and will learn fast.  He is going to be a BIG dog when he grows up.  This handsome blond is a typical Golden already, loves to be with people and lots of love to give and receive.  He is already 26 pounds and growing!  A great family dog for a forever home!

Hi, I am a 2 year-old Boxer/English Bulldog mix, oh I am SO friendly, I sat on a chair while waiting my turn at the vets, much to the amusement of everyone there!

I am SUPER-FRIENDLY! At 70 pounds,   I am neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccinated for Bordatella, Max 5, and Rabies, dewormed, no fleas.  Gentle, I will be a good family dog. And I am playful too!  You will love me for sure.

I was abandoned and am looking for someone to love forever.  I am obedient and a real joy!

  Kimo

Kimo is 8-9 years young and seems to be a SILKEN TERRIER, he is now groomed and cute as a button. Kimo is around 15 pounds and was given up because of a serious illness of his beloved owner.

Kimo is loving and playful, and suited to an adult home as he was not brought up with little kids, he is nervous of the little ones, perhaps he was dropped at one time.

However he is a good boy and LOVES his walks and carrides.  He is very much a Mama’s Boy!  Neutered, vaccines up to date—Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies, dewormed etc, Kimo looks for a home where he can be treated like the Prince he is!

  Kiki

I ended up, in a  pound, a homeless boy with a collar saying “KIKI”.  So somebody loved me once!  They kept me for 2 weeks, but no one called or came looking for me, so I was scheduled to be euthanized.  But Gerdy found me and took me into her rescue!  They say I am very handsome, a male Domestic Longhair  of caramel and white, yellow eyes full of trust.

I am neutered, now have been vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed (just in case!), FIV/FelV tested negative, vet checked and ready to go.  I weigh 13 pounds,  am about 4-5 years old and I was very loved at one time because I  am a real Prince Charming!  But now I am lonesome and on my own in the world, seeking a protector who will care for me the rest of my days.  I am a laid-back boy, unruffled and stoic on the outside, but a cream puff on the inside looking for love!

I will be groomed shortly as my lovely coat needs some care after I was out on my own.  I’d love a nice warm catbed near you while you work and I promise I will not walk over your keyboard!!

  Adopted
  Lola Lee

And what a nice girl she is, super friendly, and gorgeous as well.  Lola is a BLACK LAB mixed with a bit of traveling salesman GERMAN SHEPHERD, and is about a YEAR old, a very striking coat, Black Lab with German Shepherd brown on her legs, white chest patches!  Was found wandering with no home, frightened,  and IN HEAT.  SHE IS NOW SPAYED and ready to be adopted!!

Has had her vaccines, deworming, no fleas!  She is exceptionally GENTLE; loves people and gentle children, this tender hearted girl would likely accept cats well.

This is a very SPECIAL  girl and deserves a good life as they all do!  She is about 44 pounds, just a nice size for a family dog!   Let her dream come true—“Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets”—a forever loving home!

  Adopted
  Sandra

Little Sandra is about 6 months old and is a 35 pound Collie mix.  There is not a mean bone in  Sandra, who was going to be euthanized at a pound because no one wanted her after she was found wandering.    She is her own little soul, so friendly, but slightly shy—when we saw her she came without our prompting,  right to us almost on her belly, in a juvenile effort to seek out affection-- as once she got close, she gave a kiss and promptly wanted a belly scratch!  What a CHARMER!

She has the softest eyes possible!  This is a GREAT family dog in the making, a real treasure.  Likely some housetraining will be needed but hey, she’s smart and a quick learner!  Likes people and other dogs, this gal would make a great second dog as well.  Likely would be a cinch to get along with cats who know how to manage playful young dogs.

Spayed, heartworm tested (negative), vaccinated including intranasal Bordatella, dewormed, defleaed in case, vet examined in good shape.  A nice age for puppy obedience training, she should be top of her class!

My new family didn’t have time for me anymore, so I came to Gerdy’s.  Everyone who sees me  says that  I am completely ADORABLE and good natured.  At 3 to 3 1/2 months old and 15 pounds,  I am a German Shepherd/Collie Mix,  as cute as pie & nice as well.

I behaved very well at the vet,  and with BIG  paws, likely I will be a good-size girl when I am all grown up, and I have beautiful markings as well.  I will be spayed by Gerdy’s which is included in my adoption fee, and also my puppy Max 5 & Rabies; I am dewormed and no fleas. Everyone at the clinic loves me, and I hope you will too, and adopt me as your forever girl!

This lovely lady is a senior of 10 years, declawed on all 4 paws.  Now she has been shaved, as her fur was dreadfully matted, but will grow out as beautiful as in the photo. She is being given up because of allergies.

Filomena would do well in a home with adults or older children—she is affectionate and enjoys the warmth of a lap.  Very quiet, calm cat that asks nothing but a chance to lay in a sunny spot  as she daydreams in the comfort of her retirement.

I am a strong 9 month old mix of Black Lab and likely Mastiff—a BIG active baby  girl of 75 pounds.  I am HOUSETRAINED .  I CAN LIVE WITH CATS AND DOGS. I am looking for a house with a spacious and fenced back yard where you can exercise me, I love going to the dog park with other friendly dogs, and because of my size and exuberance—I am still a puppy—I need to be in a home experienced with big dogs and confident people who can teach me my doggy manners—Gerdy can recommend a trainer to go in to my new home for private lessons.

However, if you are kind but FIRM with me, you will see I am very obedient and I will do everything you expect of me.  I am spayed, and heartworm tested negative, have vaccines to date, Max 5, Rabies and Bordatella.  Dewormed, no fleas.  I traveled well in the car going to the vet.  I am beautiful, they tell me, with a massive and regal head, friendly eyes!  I am actually a big sweetheart!  Very intelligent, I just want to please my new family.  Please give me a chance.

As you can see, I am already dressed for the Ball!  I am a 3 ½ month-old Boston Terrier boy, whose owner feels terrible giving me up, but she developed a bad allergy to me—so here I am!  I am a very good boy, who LOVES to play.

I am crate trained and sleep through the night if you cover my crate with a bathtowel so I know it is dark and time for a nap. I am trained to pee on my pee pad but my foster mum is also taking me outside for a bit. I need more work on poo-poo but I am a smart boy and can be trained in no time perfectly by an experienced dog person.

I am fascinated by the cats at my foster’s and love their dogs, one of which is socializing me in doggy manners as I was taken from my mother at 7 weeks of age, so I am learning fast polite doggy ways.  I have my puppy vaccines and will be neutered as part of my adoption fee, and am dewormed, with no fleas.  This TUXEDO looks better than anything by Armani!

Moose has more white on the face.

We are two domestic shorthair  males of approximately 6 months old.  We were living outdoors when we were trapped and brought to the St-Lazare veterinary hospital.  We have come a long way because we were very scared of people, having no social contact at all as kittens!  We now love the attention.  We were very lucky.  If we can be adopted together, that would be great because we depend on each other so much.  If not that's ok because we will be so grateful to have a home of our own.  We are spayed, vaccinated and dewormed.

  Adopted
  Goldilocks

This beautiful soul was saved from a pound where her time was up, she was going to be euthanized.  Such a gentle and loving dog who wants only to receive the affection she craves -- not a mean bone in her --, was one of 10 dogs seized by a municipality from a man (6 later returned to him by the municipality!) who was not giving proper care.

Goldilocks is a Lab/Shepherd Mix, dog friendly,  and  is very thin, weighing in at 47.4  pounds, ribs showing. She needs decent care. She tries to hug you, she is so loving!    They were the last of his 2 dogs left at the pound, the other 2 were placed  but no one wanted to take the mutts, they were left to die.

Gerdy took them.  She rode back in the  car so happy to be wanted, going straight to the vet.  There she had her vaccines, deworming, de-fleaing,  and HEARTWORM TEST.  SHE TESTED POSITIVE.  Gerdy’s will assume the cost of her heartworm treatment at our vet.

It is apparent that she has had babies.  This girl is only about 1 year old, and in spite of all she has gone through, she will be a WONDERFUL family dog for a lucky caring family, hopefully with  a more calm environment for her treatment time.

She is attentive and very intelligent!  Just wants to please!  Her eyes are full of trust and hope—we will get her heartworm treated, can she recover in a new loving environment as YOUR dog?

  Adopted
  Daisy

This delightful 8 year old girl is a Black Lab mix, who is a great girl in every way—wonderfully patient with kids, loves other dogs, LOVES people—she enjoys going to the dog park!  Does not guard her bowl, likes cats, has never been destructive in her previous home.  Never barks at home, only to warn of unknown presence or if playing at the dog park having fun.  Can be left alone in the house while you are at work.  Will stay on her bed until granted permission to leave it, she will obey the command ‘Tapis”.  Good in car travel, content to sleep on the back seat and enjoy the ride.  Spayed and vaccines up to date, heartworm prevention taken as well, this sweet girl was given up because a baby is expected and they no longer have time for Daisy.  Would you like to pick this Daisy?

Update:

Daisy developed a behavior issue in her adoptive home and was returned.  After some time back with us, she was rehabilitated and no longer displayed the old problem.  She was placed on a trial adoption, that turned into a permanent adoption, and is a treasured member of her new family, very happy, with another dog pal and a cat!  And very loved.

  Adopted
  Sparkie

Sparkie is a 4 month old mix of Yorkshire Terrier and ShihTsu—and what a handsome boy!  His coat is a mixture of short rust colour and long black curls, with dark brown button eyes!   He is very well -socialized with people and dogs, and is an absolute darling in personality.

Barks a bit in his crate then goes to sleep and sleeps through the night -- well -- til close to 6 am!!  Let out immediately, he will do his bathroom duties.  He is ALMOST trained in the house.  He is a REAL LAP DOG contender!  But loves to run around the house with the foster’s other dogs playing happily.  He is just learning to climb stairs.  He is nearly 7 pounds.  Right now he gets a bit car sick as he is not used to travelling, but that should improve with time.  He is amazingly “calm” for such a young pup, loves to cuddle!

This is an exceptional little soul  for someone wanting a devoted wee dog.  Illness in the family is the reason for giving him up.  This is a boy who will need someone with him through the day to love him and give the attention he craves.  Older children please as he is small and is not for the rough play of little kids.  Good company as a second little dog in the household if the first dog is friendly and playful.

Sparkie will be neutered by Gerdy’s vet when old enough, about 5 ½ months,  included in the adoption fee. He has his puppy vaccines up to date, Bordatella as well, and is dewormed and flea-free.  Good to go!  Sparkie is ready to light up your life!

  Slinky

Who could have deposited this wee 10.4 pound boy on a golf course to be luckily found, in time,  half frozen? But he was one LUCKY dog, as he was taken to safety and made his way to Gerdy’s Rescues. He is estimated to be a year old and is full grown.

We think he is a mix of Mini Schnauzer/Jack Russell/and a dab of ShihTsu—but he IS a mix of something  and a dear one, whatever his origins!  He is now neutered with his vaccines, dewormed, no fleas, vet checked.  He is currently in foster care, where he is friendly and plays with the family dogs very nicely; and is learning to respect cats there too!

His foster mum says he is interested in the cats but keeps a respectful distance as the cats are giving him a reminder if he forgets and curiosity gets his nose too close.  He is very social with people, friendly, an extrovert.  He seems housetrained as he has had no accidents so far.  Not a barker!  Nicely behaved, playful.  Does well in his crate at night or if left alone for a bit.

His funny curled tail  looks like a spiked ostrich feather! Go ahead, be a Big Kid playing with YOUR own Slinky!

  Zorro

Courtesy Listing - This is not a Gerdy’s dog but we will pass along any inquiries to the person who saved him. Placement arranged between the parties themselves. The following Bio was perpared by the Foster:

I am writing you for some help. I live in the country and work at a vet clinic. Just before the holidays a stray was brought to the clinic found wandering the streets. Being the 24th of December, the clinic was just about to shut down for the holidays, and a foster home was needed. I took "Zorro" home, and since then, have been trying in vain to re-home him.

Yes, he is a PIT BULL, about 2 years old, and weighs approx 50 pounds, but oh my gosh, as sweet as pie!! I had no idea they were so GENTLE!   In my opinion, he has gotten lost as opposed to being abandoned, but no one has claimed him. He spent Christmas with us, and even made it into all the photos!!! My 2 nephews, aged 15 and 18 enjoyed him thoroughly, as he is very affectionate and LOVES TO BE PETTED, to the point where he will grab your arm and pull it towards him to get you to pet him!

He travels perfectly in a car wearing a seat belt, and as you can see from the attached photo, he is so PASSIVE!  Not a mean bone!   Found out he loves to get up on the couch, as opposed to his bed on the floor. He's NEUTERED and has been TRAINED, (no house soiling and even asks for the door!) and listens very well. Cats are definitely NOT in the cards for him!!! Because of this, no dogs smaller than him should be in the home either.

Without a doubt he is strong, but I am using a Halti with him and it works fabulously.  Because he has immense strength, not recommended for kids under 15 years old as they’d have difficulty walking him.  Zorro was clearly loved at some point in his life and well raised.  Can YOU be his new loving family?

  Dooby

Dooby is a slight 8 month old Oriental Red who for a better name should have been called ‘Flip Flop’.  His previous owners were no longer interested in having him due no time to love him.  Dooby has not only expressive blue eyes, but he has a human like quality as seen in most Orientals.

He is talkative, friendly and very affectionate who flops on the floor for affection, grooming and petting time.  He is such a wonderful and loving boy who is not only beautiful from the outside, but he has the insides to match.  Dooby is presently living with 5 feline friends which he adapted to almost immediately.

He also is being quietly introduced to his canine foster mates as he has not been socialized with dogs fully but he is making amazing progress.  He has no aggressive tendencies with people, cats and dogs and will integrate beautifully with any loving FOREVER family.  Dooby is a wonderful example of the Oriental temperament and those who love this breed would appreciate his gentle and loyal nature.

Dooby has been neutered, FIV/FelV tested negative, dewormed, no fleas, vaccinated, and vet checked. One conversation with Dooby and your heart will be filled with joy, admiration and endless comical entertainment.  Quickly make an appointment to meet Dooby, as this boy is unique and a real ‘one of a kind’.

Jasmine needs a home.  She has lived  15/16  YEARS already, and is not ready to leave this world.  Yet her owner has given her until the beginning of February to find a new home or be euthanized.

Age is no reason for this, Jasmine is happy and healthy, and has been a lucky cat to be so  long-lived.  Yet now her owner doesn’t want her, so someone who knows Jasmine WELL  is trying to save her life—she has until FEBRUARY 1  to find her a new home—and  needs someone who is willing to provide Jasmine with nothing more than security and warmth and love in her senior years, and nice soft food.

Jasmine is NOT DECLAWED, loves a scratching post and is a gentle yet still playful cat with a keen sense of humour—she has all her marbles Jasmine  would tell you with dignity, and just needs a home ideally with no other pets so she can just sit in the sun and dream happy thoughts peacefully!  An INDOOR girl, Jasmine is a Domestic Semi-longhair Tortie who is a true Glamour Cat—still beautiful after all those years.

PLEASE consider Jasmine, she won’t take up a lot of room, and will reward you with the gift of appreciation.  SPAYED, this gal is relying on YOU—PLEASE!!  Help a senior in need!

Well here I am and what a movie-worthy  adventure getting here—I used up several of my 9 lives I am sure!!  First of all I was born in a Cree village up on James Bay.  But my owner didn’t want me to grow up, and when I was no longer a tiny helpless kitten,  I got dumped on the street when  my person got herself another wee kitten!

So there I was, abandoned and  alone on the street. A man saw me being abused by some cruel boys on the street  and took me away from them  and had me flown to the security of his home in the  Montreal area.  Now they are seeking a home for me where I will be loved forever.  A condition of getting me will be that I will be spayed!!  I am now dewormed and will be getting my shots soon.

What more could you ask—I am about 5 months old, a sweet Domestic Shorthair female kitten—you should see me play so happily with my toys—I never had a toy before!  I am good with other cats, great with kids and could get used to a nice dog.  I ‘d LOVE to sit with you, and get petted.  But most of all I’d LOVE to watch you work on the computer.  Can you grant  me my fondest wish?  Being loved forever after?

  Alice

This sweet dear girl will be spayed shortly.  Like Goldilocks, she was the other pound dog left to be euthanized as her time was up with no takers, originally owned by the same person.

Alice is rather petite at 30.2 pounds and has the look of a juvenile, but is really about 1 ½ years old.  Very trusting, dog friendly, she too would make a wonderful family pet, not a mean bone in her, she has maintained her trust in people as well and is also like Goldilocks, very friendly.  Alice is a German Shepherd Mix with a great personality.

She will be spayed very shortly, has her vaccines as well—Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies as we give all our dogs, heartworm tested NEGATIVE, dewormed & defleaed in case.  Can you give Alice her Wonderland at your home forever?

I’m not Bob the Builder, I’m Bob the Beagle—but you can call me Bob!  I am a sporty beagle, I am about 3 years old and have energy to play ball with you in the yard—fenced securely tho as we Beagles are great escape artists who follow our nose and keep on going!  So don’t let me loose outside ever!

I am a sociable chap, a tiny bit overweight but exercise will take care of all that in no time.  I like kids and grown-ups alike!  I guess I could learn to like a cat as well.  But I like a “down” time too, I can curl up beside you as WE read a book, or look at you worshipfully if that would make you happy.

I am always cheerful!  Neutered, vaccines—bordatella, Max 5, Rabies—heartworm tested negative, dewormed, no fleas—I am ready to be Bob My Buddy, soon!

What do you call a mix of Miniature Pinscher and Miniature Poodle?  ME!!  All 17 pounds of me!  At  1 ½ years old, I am full grown, and am a great size to play with and handle easily on walks.

A rich butterscotch and caramel colour, I have the hair of the poodle but it is fluffy, not curled.  I am not a hypoallergenic dog because of my mix, but I do not shed too much.  I LOVE my toys.  I am crate trained as well, and I like kids and meeting other friendly dogs.  I am SO handsome with a face that invites smiles from everyone.  Active, I enjoy my walks and playing with my toys that you can throw for me.

Neutered, vaccines up to date—bordatella, Max 5, Rabies—heartworm tested negative, dewormed, I am good to go!   My owner could no longer keep me, so I am looking for a forever family of my own—are YOU the one for me?

This girl has spunk and thinks that even tho she is 3 legged (1 missing on the back) someone will want her!  This girl was found outside, fending for herself. A skinny 7 pounds, and still a baby at about 11 months, this domestic longhair tortoiseshell  gets around amazingly well and is a real survivor.  She needs to be built up with good food and given the security of lots of devotion.

She has been spayed, FIV/FelV tested negative, dewormed, no fleas, vaccinated, and vet checked. She has had a rough time of it, as you can imagine.  Is there an Angel out there for Jenny to love forever? She is a small cat and won’t take up much room, but her heart is huge with hope.

This pup is a Black Lab Mix about 4  months old, who was found alone in a parking lot and unclaimed at a pound where he was taken.   Bart is about 17 pounds and HAS THE BLUEST EYES WE HAVE EVER SEEN!!

He is a fine pup, very friendly and sociable, likes other dogs.  Great with people.  Curious, loves to be held, and is not a barker so far.  What a striking face!!  An all around good pup.

Neutering and puppy vaccines included in adoption fee, dewormed, no fleas, vet examined.  He is going to be a handsome dog when grown.  Webbed feet of the Lab.

This lovely exceptional lass was to be euthanized at a pound the next day-- her time had run out, as she was unclaimed after being found wandering in the community helpless and cold.

Colleen is a BORDER COLLIE MIX, and has ALL the charm and intelligence of the breed—friendly, sociable, kind to other dogs, especially  fellow pound pup Bart Simpson, to whom she was quite motherly as well! Colleen is going to make someone a fantastic family dog!!

She weighs 43 pounds and is estimated to be about 2-3 years old at the most.  A treasure of a girl, she is spayed, heartworm tested negative, dewormed, no fleas, vaccinated Rabies, Bordatella, and Max 5, vet checked.

Everyone’s gentle friend COLLEEN can already sit and shake a paw—and her Irish eyes are definitely smiling!

  Adopted
  Maxie

This year old Shih Tzu mix is very loving and is an interested, active little boy who is neutered, vaccinated—Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies; heartworm tested negative, dewormed, no fleas—this dog has only one fear—coming out of his crate, he does not like to be physically taken out.  This is a new activity and likely will stop if he merely is allowed to leave the crate on his own, or baited out with a treat. Also, given the opportunity he will eat his stool, so it just needs to be removed as soon as done.

There are simple ways of dealing with that habit as well to discourage it.  This is a very loving little dog of about 14 pounds, cute as can be.  Neutered, vaccinated—Max 5, rabies, bordatella—dewormed, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm preventative—Maxie was given up because of lack of time anymore.

Compassionate Placement & Courtesy Listing

NOTE: Not a Gerdy’s cat, inquiries will be put in touch with owner:

Charlotte is a semi long hair black ebony girl of six years. Because of allergy she is seeking a new forever home. Her eyes are wide bright pale greenish-yellow. She is definetely affectionate, likes to be close by her person. She is semi independant and quiet; she would not jump on your lap but comes next to you, rolls on her side to be petted and then purr softly. She likes to be in the room with you rather than be on your lap—great for someone working from home!!

She has been through enough in her life!  2 ½ years ago she was rescued from a bad situation, she had been malnourished and mistreated.  At that time she developed a liking for TOMATOES that had been left out in a basket—it was the only food she survived on just before her rescue.  Charlotte is sort of shaped like a Main Coon, with fluffy hair and a bushy tail.  To give her a face a saucy and amusing expression, she has one canine tooth slightly longer than the other—a very cute feature.

DECLAWED by the previous owner, she must be an indoor cat, though he put her out to fend for herself when absent for long periods from the home, how helpless that made her!!  Charlotte is spayed, will be vaccinated, dewormed & defleaed  at vet by present owner at his expense before she is placed.

  Chelsey

Chelsey is a gorgeous, petite 3 year old female collie X husky.  Chelsey’s background story is a mystery filled with questions but we can start by what we know. Chelsey was ‘used’ by a puppymill breeder – this we know as she was surrendered to a pound.  Her disposition and temperament however tells another story.

Chelsey is a friendly girl who knows her basic commands.  This indicates that she was once  owned by someone before she was used for breeding.  She has a kind and gentle demeanor however there are signs of physical abuse as she will cower when voices are raised or there is fast hand movements.

Regardless of her disturbing past, Chelsey is a loving girl that will do anything to please her people.  She has shown forgiveness and also shows an incredible enthusiasm to continue her life’s journey on the right paw.  Chelsey is looking for a family that is gentle, loving and also energetic.  She is looking for that special someone that will provide her with security and re-enforce that she is now safe and will be loved from this day forward.  Chelsey also is good with other canine companions but has not been cat tested.

This girl deserves the very best…..and she will finally get that opportunity to show the world that she has survived, has forgiven, and is ready to move on.

  Snow White & Pinocchio

Brother and sister kittens:

Born July 19 2009, were given their first vaccination September 10 along with their first deworming pill. Their mother was a stray who moved into a compassionate woman's back yard, pregnant, looking for food and safety.

After gaining Mum's trust by being fed morning and night, she was brought in and housed in the safety of a bedroom a week before she gave birth, so the kittens were born indoors.  (Mum and a 3rd kitten were subsequently adopted!)  Mum was tested for Feline AIDS/Leukemia which was negative and was vaccinated--all were deemed by vet healthy.

Snow White

The first to do everything -- she was the first out of the 'nest' her mother and benefactor created for them, the first to figure out what to do in a litter box and the first to stick her tiny face in her mother's food bowl to begin the weaning process.  She loves to play and is especially good at hopping and jumping.

Pinocchio

Her brother is also a want-to-be trampoline artist and is likewise a consummate hopper and jumper (he really does belong in a circus); he is a little more laid back than his sister however and is more inclined to stay still for a brief moment for a quick belly rub although little sister certainly enjoys a chin scratch or two (in between hops!).

This little Domestic Shorthair is desperate for help in getting a home.  She is spayed and vaccinated, comes when called, and is a 5 month old baby living outdoors being watched over by a kind woman and fed.

She needs a home soon!  She’d love to be inside NOW but has had no luck in finding someone to take her in.  If you can help this homeless girl, please contact us and we will pass it along to the woman caring for her outside.

Our own space is maxed out—let’s get this girl a safe and loving home as an INDOOR-only cat please, as soon as possible!

This enterprising boy needed help when he found himself homeless and wandering along a  country road.  His feet were sore & he was hungry, so he went to the nearest door along his journey and asked to go in!  One look at his dear and expectant,  about 7 year old face, and the kind woman called Gerdy.

Wearing no collar or ID,  he soon found himself at Gerdy’s Rescues getting the full treatment—heartworm test (negative) and now on Revolution preventative, Max 5 & Bordatella vaccines, plus Rabies, dewormed, defleaed, and neutered—all set for adoption!

We don’t quite know his family tree, he is not a big boy, he is about 34 pounds.  He LOOKS like Spitz/Border Collie/shepherd mix with a stretch of the imagination—an artist original!!   He has an old injury on one of his rear paws that was treated with antibiotics, but now he walks well. Rides very well in the car, obedient, and well-behaved.  This traveler wants to settle down with you!

Flea was born March 20, 2009 and is now 6 month old.  The owner couldn’t keep her anymore so asked Gerdy to find her a good home, this was a loved dog.

FLEA is a silver shadowed brown Husky, perhaps a mix.  She will not be a large dog, just a nice manageable size!  She has a very sweet nature, is kind and loving, interested in getting affection most of all. Very graceful, and feminine.

Flea is spayed, vaccinated Max 5, Bordatella, and Rabies, dewormed,-- no fleas on Flea!  She is beautiful both inside and out and a real charmer, with her liquid brown eyes and intelligent face.

Hello everyone!  I am only 10 months old and I am SUCH a nice girl, and a good looker too!!  I am a mix of Papillon / Pekingese and I have the best features of each of my parents!  I am NOT a barker really, well I can bark a bit if I am excited seeing another dog to play with but otherwise I am quiet indoors.  Well tempered, very socialized, a real cuddler, great to walk—THAT’s ME!

Spayed, heartworm tested negative and on Revolution, vaccines Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies up to date, dewormed, no fleas, I am very intelligent and quick to bond to loving people.  And I have the biggest SMILE!!  Just for YOU!

  Baileys

A wonderful girl—kind, gentle & loving!  Ideal family dog without a mean bone in her body. Good with other dogs and enjoys playing.  Her favourite thing is to snuggle up under the duvet, day or night!!  She would not be an apartment or condo dog as she will bark if excited playing or hears an intriguing noise outside.

Not crate trained but would benefit from the use of one—however she is FULLY HOUSETRAINED and only chews things you give her to chew!  About 30 pounds, she is a nice manageable size to cuddle and snuggle with, loves children—untried with cats.  Responds inside the house to basic commands –sit, stay etc but forgets when outside, so needs obedience training—would benefit from classes.  Fairly good on leash, pulls a bit but as she is easy to handle will not pull a person off balance.  If she got loose would not have the sense to stay, but would run and get lost.

So needs a secure home and securely fenced yard ideally.  Baileys is about 3 years old and is a mix of German Shepherd (stretching your imagination because of the smaller size!) and whatever her travelling salesman of a dad was.  Smooth, mellow and soft—just like her namesake, Baileys Irish Cream!

Spayed, Vaccines updated—Bordatella, Max 5, and Rabies, heartworm tested negative, on Revolution heartworm preventative, dewormed, no fleas, and ready to be enjoyed any time of the day or night!

  Wally

Abandoned by his family, Wally is a mix of Black Lab / Spaniel,  we think.  He is a very handsome young boy of  8  months.  Very social, Wally likes children and would likely be ok with cats, tho not tried with them. Wally is about 34 pounds.

An idea family pet, Wally could benefit from a basic obedience course in walking to make him perfect.  He can sit on command and shake a paw.  Not a mean bone in him, he is very trusting.

Wally is now neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccinated—Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella; on Revolution heartworm preventative, flea & parasite free.

WHERE’S WALLY?   He could be forever in your home and heart!

  Jasper

At 7 years old, this wonderful-in-every-way yellow LAB is a family’s dream dog!!  Jasper is the most fun-loving, playful, GENTLE dog who is happiest just being beside you as you pet him.  He is thrilled to see you as you come home and makes you feel that you are the most valued person in the whole world!   HAS NO SEPARATION ANXIETY.  Vet examined recently, no medical problems, in fine shape.  EXCELLENT WITH CHILDREN!!

Friendly with other dogs, he is NOT AGGRESSIVE at all.  Backs off if another dog threatens him.  He LOVES PEOPLE SO MUCH!  When they come to the door he barks, but when they enter he sniffs & licks them.  His WORST trait is that he will buzz around the table as you eat, trying to put a paw in your lap to coax you to donate something to him, but even that is not pushy!  When walked he pulls a little but can be corrected easily with practice. He JUST LOVES TO BE LOVED—that is Jasper!

He is neutered, up to date on vaccines Rabies, Max 5, Bordatella; heartworm tested negative and on preventative, no fleas, dewormed and good to go.

LOVES THE CAR DRIVES!!  This is the most perfect all around family dog.  He was going to be sent to a pound and we just couldn’t let that happen—so here is your golden opportunity!  JASPER!!

This beautiful and sweet Black Lab mix is 49 pounds of love, and is about 2 years old.  Found by a man driving along a country road, she was laying in the middle of the road, too exhausted to get up.  Very skinny and full of fleas, she had to be carried to his car.  She had given birth to pups, but were nowhere to be seen. Likely the pups were kept for selling and she was discarded to die.

He brought her home, bathed her and treated her with his own dog’s Revolution to deflea her and fed her for a month to put some weight on her.  During this time, he tried to find someone to take her.  They taught her to sit, lay down, and shake a paw.  She loves the car, will sit quietly on the seat looking out the window.

This is one of the best behaved dogs we have ever had!  They could not keep her so contacted Gerdy’s when they felt she was ready to have a home of her own.  She will be spayed shortly, given vaccines Max 5, Bordatella, and Rabies, dewormed—she is all set for her forever home once the spay is done shortly. A gentle name for a gentle girl—this is a dog in a million!

5 month  old caramel colour Cocker Spaniel pup, very cheerful, he weighs about 14 pounds now, will be a small spaniel when full grown we think.  Typical active Cocker, not snappy, very sweet, loves to play.

Absolutely so handsome!  This pup was given up because of no time.  Dewormed, puppy shots, will be neutered by us, dewormed, no fleas.  Not a mean bone—great pet for older kids.  Not a dog to be left alone all day—too young!  What an opportunity for Cocker admirers!!

  Coco

This Chocolate Lab is a 10 month old happy bundle of young energy who needs kind training for manners—he is a work in progress—and will make someone who invests the time, care, and attention this boy truly merits, a wonderful dog!  He will be a masterpiece under the right person for him.  He needs kind discipline as his previous owner was older and realized he should not have got a wee  energetic pup after all!

This dog would likely benefit from being taught doggy manners as well by a well grounded, kind, and adult dog his size.  Coco is VERY loving and needs space to run off his energy.  Definitely for older kids, little ones he would bowl over in his happiness!  A person used to handling big dogs on leash would be best, but he is also trained to Gentle Leader we understand. He is VERY smart and with proper guidance will settle down well.

Neutered, vaccines to date, heartworm tested negative, dewormed, no fleas, this Chocolate is irresistible!

Jack is a Mini-Pomeranian, a little fluffy guy.  He was born June 21 2008 so is around a year old.  Jack is from a shelter and was a frightened wee boy but is coming along now in foster care and getting back his confidence.  Jack is scheduled to be neutered, is heartworm free, and on Revolution as a preventative.

He is vaccinated Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella. Dewormed, and flea free.  Loves to walk on leash.  Would do best in an adult home with gentle people.  He is a handsome little chap, with an eager little face, very intelligent.  He will love a secure and calm home with people who talk to him, as he loves to listen to conversations hopefully with the words “walk”  or “food”.

This dear chap would enjoy being cuddled as well!

Jasper is a 4 year-old male mix of Beagle and German Shepherd!  Looks like a smaller version of a shepherd!  He is good with kids, non-destructive, with lots of energy to play!  He will bark to let you know there is someone at the door, but will not bite visitors or anyone!  He is quiet and good-natured, and doesn’t mind being alone all day while his person is at work. He has not been around other animals other than a female dog and we don’t know his response to cats; so we suggest no cats.  He is a beautiful black and beige, highly intelligent and a good learner.

He is neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccinated Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella, dewormed and no fleas.  Jasper is ready to join a new household, he lost his old home due to family circumstances.  Dapper Jasper is ready to be loved again!

These 4 young cats are about 5 months old. They were found by chance,  huddled together with no mother, under a balcony, in below freezing temperature, victims of a society that abandons pregnant cats to the cruel outdoors rather than spay in the first place—these kittens would not have survived more than a few more hours outside, if that.

Rescued and taken indoors, they have had their shots and will be fixed when old enough to do so.  All very sweet babies. All domestic shorthairs.  Wonderfully playful and happy now they are saved.  Can you fit one into your life?

Buddy

Buddy is a very sweet and gentle boy, not a mean bone!  He is a mix of Black Lab and Border Collie, he turned 2 years old on August 5, 2009, and is VERY loving and playful, but not hyper.  Will make a fine family dog, housetrained!

Not a big barker, does not bark often.   He is 61 pounds,  very sensitive and intelligent, and is good around other friendly dogs.  He is quite calm, so might be ok with cats but has not been tested with them. Neutered, vaccinated to date Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella, dewormed, defleaed just in case, heartworm tested negative, on Revolution heartworm preventative.  Wonderful and expressive dark brown eyes just melt your heart as you look into his very soul—such a GOOD boy!

NOTE:

GIVEN UP WITH HIS SON, “BEAR” as his people are moving.  IT WOULD BE GREAT TO PLACE THEM TOGETHER IF POSSIBLE AS THEY ARE VERY CLOSE but they can be separated to get good homes if necessary.

Bear

This is BEAR, the one- year-old son of BUDDY!  He was born on August 20, 2008.  BEAR is a HANDSOME boy, bigger than his dad BUDDY -- 70 pounds!  (He could do with more weight!).   His mother was a large Husky we were told—at any rate, he is a magnificent dog to look at, brownish along the neck and  upper back, turning a deep strong russet-red shade along his back—with the Border Collie accents of white.  He has gorgeous GOLDEN EYES that express his intelligence and sensitivity.

Very loving and playful as well, HOUSETRAINED, and does not bark often.  Very observant of his surroundings, he likes to cuddle with his dad BUDDY when sleeping!  Good with other friendly dogs, cats are a question mark—untried with them.  Like Buddy, quite easy to walk, they both know “Sit” as well.

Neutered, heartworm tested negative, on Revolution heartworm preventative, newly vaccinated Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella as was Buddy, he was dewormed and defleaed just in case by vet.

NOTE:

GIVEN UP WITH HIS FATHER, “BUDDY” as his people are moving.  IT WOULD BE GREAT TO PLACE THEM TOGETHER IF POSSIBLE AS THEY ARE VERY CLOSE but they can be separated to get good homes if necessary.

Blondie is 28 pounds as of Aug 25 and is 8 about 7 or 8 months old.  She is a Blond Lab, and from the James Bay area, someone brought her down to save her life. This is one DEAR girl—not a mean bone—totally trusting, a real baby—playful and happy.  She is nicely active but not hyper, very smart and observant—a good dog to train easily.

Blondie is to be spayed very shortly, is heartworm negative on her test, and started on Revolution heartworm preventative, dewormed, vaccinated and also Bordatella vaccine. Blondie has trusting chocolate eyes and can smile! Loves people, other friendly dogs, likely would get used to a cat with some assistance.

A GREAT family dog in the making—can Blondie work her charm on you?

I am a seven year old neutered, champagne beige, domestic shorthair male.  Early in life I lost my human companion through a car accident. I have since been very busy loving and protecting a lady who was her friend.  Due to health reason she can no longer keep me and I am in foster care.

I am not only very affectionate but also very loyal and devoted.  I was nickname " Velcro " because I kept by her side at all times. I loved watching her TV programs and helping with chores.  I was also lovingly considered the perfect " Watch Cat " because even though I like visitors - when I sensed she was even slightly unsure of anyone - I was very vigilant and followed that person throughout the house to ensure they behaved.  Only a few times did I have to hiss to remind them they were being watched by a feline protector!

If you want a true companion - one who takes his job of showing devotion seriously - I'm your cat.  If you want a cat companion who lives for you rather than just with you - I'm the lad.  As I have a strong personality, it's best if can be your ONLY  cat.  I don't need another cat companion and neither will you!  I am enough cat for the both of us!

Declawed on front paws.  Eye color a beautiful green. Vaccinated, no fleas, dewormed and ready to pack my suitcase!

Lola needs her own special Human Guardian Angel!!

Lola is the dearest  ELEVEN and a HALF year old SHELTIE girl!   This is a super behaved and calm dog, a REAL TREASURE!  This Golden Oldie is not ready for retirement yet, she will tell you.  She loves her walks, and looks half her age.   In good health, has just been checked out by her vet.  She has several lipomas (fatty tumours, NOT cancer) that have been needle aspirated to confirm non-cancerous.  She does not need them removed.  She is in great shape.  Just met her first cat, did great!

She’d love a young girl child in her new family, as she was loved;  but HER young girl developed asthma not long ago, hence Lola needs rehoming.  Very child friendly, but needs gentle children considerate of her age.  Loving grandchildren would be perfect too!  Lola is housetrained, has her own comfy bed, and is easy to walk.  She is around 30 pounds or so, and loves the car.  She is very easy-going with not a mean bone.

Very aware of her surroundings she is mentally alert and has the prettiest face, so expressive!  She is spayed, shots up to date, also Bordatella vaccine. This beautiful and sensitive girl is very trusting and SO gentle—she was going to be euthanized as the family thought she’d never find a loving home at her age.

Well here at Gerdy’s we look for Angels  for these special dogs and you have never failed us yet!  So you Angels amongst us—“Little Lola wants YOU!”  Please! SHELTIE lovers needed!

This Big Black Dog is so handsome and friendly—with fantastic expressive golden eyes set in an aristocratic intelligent face.  He is only 10 months old but pretty well full grown at 79 pounds.  He is a Black Lab Cross, who was not allowed to be kept in the apartment and was going to be turned loose by the owners as a result.  Instead, he is awaiting adoption in safety at Gerdy’s.

He rides quietly in the car.  He has not a mean bone, very good around people and is curious about other dogs.  Pleasantly active and playful, but not hyper.  Could use obedience class to polish his Fred Astaire walking moves—he already knows how to rhumba!

A keen observer of all around him, this web-footed wonderdog has been neutered, heartworm tested negative and is on Revolution preventative, vaccinated up to date—Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella, dewormed, no fleas, and is ready to dance with you to “Me and My Shadow” in his new forever home.

At 6 to 8 months old, I have had a rough start in life! In the very cold weather of February, I appeared out of nowhere to a nice lady’s back door and frantically begged to be let in.  She realized that I had started to freeze my ears, and noticed how small and helpless  I was to be an outdoor cat.  But I was freezing to death, bit by bit, too young to survive on my own.

One of many on the streets this winter desperate to live another day.  Well, she found someone who contacted Gerdy about me and Gerdy took me in.  I will likely lose the tips or top half of my ears, but I am still a real sweetheart and a true Irish Rose!!

I am spayed now, FIV & FelV tested negative, vaccinated, dewormed & no fleas—I am ready to dance an Irish Jig of joy if you give me a forever home—and that’s no blarney!

I am a little Tri-colour Shih Tzu of 12.6 pounds, and 1 year 2 months old, having been born April 6, 2008.  I was very much loved but had to be given up due to a family tragedy.   I am clean in the house.

Spayed, heartworm tested negative, dewormed, on heartworm preventative, no fleas, vaccinated Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella.  I am friendly but a bit scared right now, so I hug my favourite stuffed toy from my old home at every opportunity—and it will come with me in my suitcase to your house!

I am truly like my name Rose; gentle, a bit shy, but lovable and a great beauty, inside as well as out with my 3 colours—so dramatic!    I have the sweetest expressive face—and I LOVE to be talked to gently!  Truly, a Rose without a thorn!

  Jack

This beautiful  2  old Standard Poodle is a warm brownish tone with a bit of white on his chest. Jack is 55  pounds.  Originally a puppymill seizure from the SPCA, this dog was very frightened and trusted no one.  He was seen and  fostered by a caring young woman who gave him his confidence back, but she had severe allergies and couldn’t keep him as she so wanted to do.  Also he had a huge lump on his back, so she had surgery done to remove it, it was benign.

Gerdy agreed to take him over and find him his forever home.  Jack is a dear dog who had a horrible start in life, he still needs gentle handling but has come so far and should bloom under loving care, he has learned how to play!  Even with the stitches along his back he is so handsome—it must have been so painful as well to Jack—now he is A-OK!

Jack has been neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccines—Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella all up to date, on Revolution for heartworm prevention, dewormed, vet checked, and ready to go!  A couple who love to walk a dog or with older children, who will fulfill his needs, would be best.

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Jack.  He was adopted by a family who loved him dearly.  He was found to have a virulent type of cancer that had spread.  Rather than give him up, they kept him until the last, when euthanasia was the only possible kindness.

Jack LIVED a whole lifetime in the time he had left,  happier than he had ever been, in the security of his new loving home.  Gerdy thanks Averil of PetFriends for taking care of Jack with dignity and care.  His family will be ever-remembered by us for standing by Jack when they could have returned him.

Jack had THE BEST.  And he deserved it.

  Abby

Abby is a healthy 23 lbs, 6 month old puppy that has fully recovered from demodex.  She has blossomed into a gorgeous petite framed girl adorned in a glistening black coat with a splash of white.  Abby is dog and cat friendly, however her playful nature will require her new human to continue to monitor this progression.  Abby is very intelligent and stubborn at times.  Again, she will require a course in basic obedience to reinforce commands.

Abby interacts very well with dogs in off leash dog parks.  She requires more leash training however as she wishes to greet everyone and everything with playful enthusiasm.  Abby does not chew furniture however has an affinity for slippers – so it is important to provide her with lots of toys.  Abby is not fully house trained and has the occasional accident which can be remedied with routine and positive reinforcement which requires someone is home during most of the day to continue to provide this guidance.

For anyone looking for a wonderful, soulful companion who would be ideal in tracking or agility, Abby is looking to fill her life and that of her new family with lots of love, play and affection.  This girl is a wonderful and innocent spirit who is looking to complete her life with a forever loving family.

Abby is de-wormed, fully vaccinated and spayed.

I’m not crazy about being alone; I get nervous which is understandable since my last people left me behind when they moved.  So please be patient with me and I don’t mind being in a crate when you go out.

I’ll be your faithful and loyal companion if you chose to adopt and love me forever.

An abandoned cat herself, about a year old,  mama cat “KITTY” had her 3 kittens outside last August  and brought them when old enough to beg for food,  to the door of a kind woman.  This person felt sorry for them, she could not bring them inside as her indoor cat would not accept any other cats inside.

Kitty was a very wary, but friendly girl, who took such good care of her babies; she watched over them as the lady daily put food out for the little family. Then winter came, she fixed up a box outside for them to seek shelter from the freezing weather.  On a bitterly cold winter day she was able to coax the 3 kittens to go into her home and Gerdy took them to the vet and safety. But Kitty would not come in, try as Gerdy might, she  was a wise cat and did not trust humans.

One day the woman  looked out the window to see Kitty perched looking inside with a bleeding eye, seeking help.  It was bitterly cold outside, with a lot of snow. She coaxed KITTY  to come inside, and so Gerdy spent New Years Day at DMV vet hospital getting treatment!

One of her babies (Jewel) was adopted right away. Mama Cat is now so friendly and sweet natured as well as beautiful, her 2 remaining kittens, now half grown, turned out to be so very affectionate!  Now we need to find a home for each.  Mama and children have all been tested for FIV/Felv (negative), dewormed, defleaed, spay/neutered, vaccinated, vet examined as well.  In the prime of health!

Alex — Black & white male. Now 7 Months old.

Joy — Grey & white female with just a bit of white between the eyes.

Jewel — Grey & white female with more white on forehead than Joy. (Adopted)

I'm a 10 year-old domestic shorthair male with distinct walnut marbling on my head and coloring much like a Maine Coon. I'm big (15 lbs), but I'm in shape. In addition to my devastatingly good looks, I'm adventurous, cozy, affectionate and am often described as being a dog trapped in a cats body.

I like driving in the car (if I can sneak my head out the window I like the breeze on the tips of my ears), I have walked on a leash in the past, but am not as interested in that as I used to be. I LOVE bath time... seriously. I am very social and friendly. I love kids, dogs and as many people as I can get to scratch behind my ears. I'm an indoor cat - always have been and always will be - and have all my current vaccinations and am neutered.

My current owners have loved me every day, but their youngest daughter is asthmatic and has a severe allergy to cats. They are hoping that someone with a big heart and a lively home sees all the wonderful things I have to offer and will have me be a part of their family. I've got lots of love to give.

Wilson is adorable.  Just take a look at those eyes!  As an 8 month old Bernese Mountain dog, Wilson is still a puppy … he is very active and very playful.  He was given up because his past owner had health issues and could no longer care for him. This 85 pound baby is happy go lucky, energetic and friendly.  He is also housetrained.

If you have lots of space in your heart for a whole lot of love… and lots of space in your home for a whole lot of dog, Wilson could be the one for you.

This adorable 7 week old Chocolate Lab Husky mix was rescued by a caring college student. He was abandoned in a lane and after realizing no one was coming back for him, she brought him home.  She named him Wiser because he seemed so smart for such a young boy.  This loving person tried to find him a home but then realized that although everyone loved him, no one could offer him a secure forever place.  She contacted Gerdy’s Rescue and so now he is being fostered with us.

Wiser is affectionate, comical and although it’s hard to believe, he gives a paw and sits. Talk about Wise(r)!  Could he be the one you take into your heart and home forever? Wiser is heartworm tested negative, dewormed and all shots up to date.

I'm a grey 7 year-old female  domestic shorthair with white mitts, white socks and a white trefoil over my muzzle. I'm pretty and I know it. I was found abandoned, pregnant and feral at 6 months old and was rescued by Gerdy. Since then I have lived with a loving family and another cat (Bogey).

I am still a little afraid of big male voices, loud noises, dogs and sometimes I can be furtive and shy around loud children. At heart I am affectionate and loving, and I like to sneak up on my owners while they are resting and nap on their bellies. I have a lot of love to give, but would be more comfortable in a home with a couple or a single owner that is home a lot. I'm independent but that doesn't mean I like being alone.  I am spayed and current with my vaccinations.

My current owners have loved me every day, but their youngest daughter is asthmatic and has a severe allergy to cats. They are hoping that someone trustworthy and loving, looking for a faithful companion will have me be a part of their family.

  Puck

This great family dog is a 10 month-old Lab mix of about 58 pounds.  Given up because he grew larger than the size allowed in the condo.  Very affectionate & sweet, gets along great with other dogs. Loves going to the dog park to play.  Gets along with children, though he can accidentally knock over the wee ones unintentionally.  Friendly with strangers, former owner says he never nipped or growled at anyone. Not food or toy aggressive.

Puck sleeps happily in a crate, in fact goes to crate on command.   Best that new person is home so he does not get lonely by himself all day, he is very social, is excitable but not hyper.  Just 1 good long walk each day and he will happily sleep away the rest of the day.  He can shake a paw, sir, go down, and fetch!

Walks rather well on leash as long as he knows you are boss. COMPLETELY HOUSE-TRAINED (cries near the door to go out), understands "no", and only barks 2 or 3 times if a person comes to the door, very smart. Puck had his rear dew-claws surgically removed and has been neutered. He's also up to date on his vaccines, defleaed & dewormed.

My name is Lou, and I am as easy-going as my name!  I am 9 months old, and am a male Poodle/Terrier Mix of 19 pounds.  You can still carry me around, but I’m too big for your purse!  I am a handsome silver grey with a touch of apricot.  VERY good natured, I like other dogs and likely would be good with a cat.  Playful, but calm for my age, I am easy to walk on leash.

I LOVE people and meeting new ones.  Very social, I do not beg for food at the table.  Would be a great dog to take to work, I am not a barker BUT if you sing, I will yodel!!  Housetrained, and a real gentleman.  I travel well in the car too!  Covered with neat curly hair, I would look smaller if I was groomed -- because I am, really!  I won’t get much bigger now, I am almost full grown.

Given up because of allergy (the terrier in me!) , I was a well loved boy.  I am patient, jolly, pensive, a baby, --but not a guard dog!  I am patient with everyone, not a mean bone in me!  Neutered, vaccines to date including Bordatella, no fleas or parasites, heartworm tested negative, and on heartworm prevention, I am good to go and live with you forever!

  Riza

Riza is an 11 year old male Persian, a majestic, proud and affectionate cat.  Riza sports a beautiful smokey colored coat and means that he requires daily grooming to ensure he is free of matting.  Riza’s front paws have been previously declawed.

Riza’s story is very sad for the human that once loved him and of course for Riza as well.  Riza’s caregiver and companion was an elderly woman who obviously loved him very much.  She brushed him everyday, ensured he had good food and dedicated herself to Riza.

Unfortunately, the woman was moved to a nursing facility where Riza was not welcomed to love his master until the end.  The woman’s daughter dropped Riza off at a shelter, without thought, concern nor care.

Persians are very sensitive and it was not long before Riza went into a deep depression and then illness.  Gerdy was heartbroken for the woman who will never know the truth and of course for a cat who pined for his loved master.

Riza is now in a foster home.  Though he is with felines and canines, Riza should be in a home with peaceful surroundings.  He is such a lovely boy, but he wants to be someone’s only love.

If you can provide Riza with lots of love and care, Riza is waiting for a new start in life from this day forward. Riza is neutered, tested negative for feline AIDS/Leukemia, vaccines to date.

This sweet girl at about 5 months of age had been found tied up in an isolated industrial park in the freezing cold and left to die by someone.

She was by a miracle found by a woman driving by who noticed her in the snow and was horrified at her almost frozen condition, and took her to safety then called Gerdy.  Had that woman’s job not taken her to Montreal that day, no one would have found Ruffles in time.

She is now about 5 months old and is ready for adoption after being fostered.  She needs work on her toilet training now.  She is a kind and sweet dog without a mean bone in her body.  Ruffles is a little bit of a girl—likely a Yorkie/Mini Poodle Mix—lovely curly coat and dramatic coat colour.

Loves to be carried around or walked, she is very social.  She barks a bit  when excited, so perhaps not an apartment.  Will be spayed soon by Gerdy’s, vaccines to date, defleaed, dewormed—does your life need a little Ruffeling up?

More like a Bear-Cub, this dear 14 month old ShihTsu is 13 pounds of love and playfulness.  He was given up due to unfortunate circumstances, his owner was broken hearted to see him go.  A dearly loved dog, Bear is still a puppy and can play a bit  rough, needs gentle training to teach him to play more gently with his mouth, but he has not a mean bone, -- just young.

Bear is housetrained, neutered, vaccines to date, heartworm tested negative, dewormed and has no fleas, vet examined.  He would make an ideal friend to a friendly small dog.  Cats he will chase, just for fun, but we suggest no cats as would stress them.  Older children too, who know how to handle little dogs.

Bear is regarded as a HYPOALLERGENIC breed as ShihTzus do not shed.  Bear is a dear boy as well as being handsome—a teddybear!

Dear, sweet Roxy needs an angel to care for her, who will love this 13 year old HEALTHY girl and give her a secure and loving home for the rest of her days. Her owner was no longer able to keep her, Roxy is TOO HEALTHY to put down! This Roxy wants to live, love, laugh and be happy!

She walks with a prance in her step in spite of a touch of arthritis—she is a real gem of a girl. Sweet mellow face is frosted with experience of her 13 years, her eyes are still good and so soft. She is on the thin side, nothing a good dog food can’t handle. She is a 47 pound Black Lab Mix. Friendly with other dogs and people, untried with cats. A bit apprehensive about little kids, not nasty, likely concerned if they would jump on her.

Would be a GREAT companion for a retired couple with a huge heart to take a dog this late in life. Roxy is heartworm tested negative, spayed, all vaccines up to date including Bordatella, dewormed, no fleas. Roxy is an old soul who is still offering her love and devotion—there might be snow on the roof, but fire in the furnace of a noble heart!

This lovely and gentle tri-colour girl  BEAGLE is real special!  Kiki is 4 years old, and was rescued from a pound a year ago.  However the owners are unable to keep her anymore so here she is looking for the special place she will call her own.

She LOVES to walk and is a VERY GOOD GIRL.  She is housetrained.  And she barks ONLY when she sees Goldens!!!  Spayed and her shots are up to date.  Kiki has not a mean bone in her body and deserves the best life has to offer!

  Dakota

This  big 80 pound black beauty is about a year old and is a female Beauceron/Lab/Shepherd mix.  She will do anything for a treat!  For an active family or athletic people who would enjoy exercising their dog, as she is young and energetic and needs the exercise and mental stimulation.  Doesn’t care for a crate but previous owner put her in a room when out and had no damage done.

While not perfectly housetrained yet, she did nothing in the room she occupied in their absence.  Not food possessive, loves to play fetch til the cows come home!  Adores her stuffed animals too!  She has great teeth.

Spayed, vaccines — Max 5, Rabies and Bordatella — up to date, heartworm tested negative, dewormed & defleaed just in case! Dakota is one happy girl 24/7 !!

  Maggie

Little Maggie is about 1 year and seven months old. Due to illness, her owner could not care for her properly.  She knows some basic commands, spayed, is up-to-date with her shots and loves to cuddle. She could use a bit of a housebreaking refresher as she was never walked - uses only puppy pads; but, with a few reminders by taking her out and praise for doing her business outside, it won't take long to get her 100% trained.  She's doing quite well already.  Looking for a good home for her with lots of hugs and love.

She has been shaved, ears cleaned and nails cut so she looks really cute.  If someone were to take care of her she could have a beautiful long coat. She's a mix of Maltese, Terrier & Yorkie it seems - who knows what  - but is really precious and expressionate with her eyes and ears.  She should go to a home where people are used to small dogs as she has a tendency to yap.

She retrieves toys better than most pure bred retrievers (right back to your hand!). She LOVES toys & tennis balls and sitting on your lap. Very easy to love and train and friendly with other dogs both big and small.  She's ready to go and won't disappoint - a really sweet girl!

  Boris

What a boy!  Boris appears to be a big  69 pound  black and tan Shepherd/ Hound mix.  He is a tall large boy, energetic but loving, with a beautiful big noble head—definitely the hind legs of a hound.

A big affectionate  goof, he also has his quiet moments of devotion!    He is about 4  years old.  He also was saved from being gassed at a kill pound the next day;  when we took him from there, he was completely docile and terrified—now he is enjoying life again, greeting people with joy!  Definitely needs leash and obedience training, but is smart and a quick learner. He will now not jump up on people and given a firm command, he will listen.  THIS IS A GREAT FAMILY DOG or BEST FRIEND for the single person or couple.

He is friendly with other nice dogs.  Untested with cats.  This dog has the MOST LOYAL personality, and devotion.  He is not “cute” but he has character and he really grows on you as you come to know him more.  A most deserving dog! And one of a kind!  Boris will charm you completely if you give him a chance.  Older kids will love this boy!   Boris might not have breeding, but he sure has class!!  Neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccines up to date, dewormed & defleaed just in case—Boris awaits your visit!

  Pacha

What a jolly, sweet girl I am—not a mean bone, I am a half Blond Lab (at the front!) and Boxer (at the rear!)—my stubby tail is always wiggling to keep up with my happy front half!  I am 11 months old, having been born June 2, 2008.  I am about 80 pounds but could stand to lose a few pounds, hopefully through exercise.  My owner couldn’t keep me anymore.  I used to live with a cat and another dog, so am used to both.

Now, I DO need obedience classes to walk like the princess I am inside!  But other than that, everyone says that I am just about perfect!

I am very affectionate and devoted—take me home and I will prove it to you!  We can curl up and watch tv, or I can lay at your feet as you read a best seller.  In turn you can play with me or scratch my belly which I LOVE!  I was good in Gerdy’s car and I am clean in the house.  I would LOVE to be in a home where I am not alone all day, but I can be crated as I am used to that too.  I am exceptionally nice natured and a real “looker”, I turn heads with my unique short-haired beauty.

I am spayed, vaccines up to date—Bordatella, Max 5, Rabies; heartworm tested negative, vet checked, no parasites or fleas.  You will develop a passion for Pacha in no time!!

His neuter will be done in due time along with his puppy vaccinations, dewormed.  Freddie is a handsome charmer  who captures the hearts of all he meets!   Ideal  for dog-savy older  children.

This handsome 5 year-old Doberman is very affectionate, very loving with children and older people.  He is not a dominant boy.  Housetrained,  but needs more work on leash walking. Very well behaved, he is given up because he is the second dog and the other dog is dominant with him, he needs a chance to bloom on his own.  An exceptionally good family dog.

Paco is neutered, vaccines up to date, heartworm tested negative, no parasites or fleas.  A gentle and sensitive soul.

We will refer any inquiries direct to the owner. To be euthanized by city on June 1st as they say this lady, by taking in cats freezing in the winter, has now more cats than are allowed in her household.

Age about 5 years old. (Spayed)

Has lived with owner for about 4 years. An acquaintance asked if she would take her, as she could no longer keep her.

Loves to sit on one’s knee. Can be quite playful, running in the house and sometimes chasing another cat.

Reason for placement: Owner has been ordered by municipality to reduce the number of cats being sheltered.

  Olivia

Olivia is a 3 year old female tabby who was surrendered due to a change of living arrangements. Olivia went directly into a foster home where after 1 week her new mom made Olivia a part of her family.

Olivia is now living very comfortably with a new big sister cat and a baby feline brother.  Olivia has made herself very comfortable where she will remain forever living in luxury.

Thank you to our valued volunteer Claire for opening her heart and home to this wonderful loving girl. (Shhh – don’t tell Claire that we knew Olivia would never leave).

  Anita

She is a delightful 6 month old pup, who is a true survivor.  She had contracted Parvo and was treated early to save her life,  so she has no bad effects.

This little girl is 31 pounds now and is a Boxer mix.  Her eyes look like she is wearing dark eyeliner—what a beautiful face.  She needs work on her housetraining as she has spent a long time at the vets, but is very socialized with all the nice people she met looking after her.  A joyful girl, with a wagging long tail, she just wants to please and to savour life restored.  She is a pup who will make someone a fine family dog.

Spayed,  vaccinated, Anita is highly intelligent and will catch up with her housetraining in no time.  She would enjoy puppy obedience class too. Might even graduate top of her class!

Hi!  I am a beautiful and nicely playful Chocolate Lab girl of 7 ½ years, whose people no longer had time for me and wanted me to have the good life they felt I deserved!  I AM A GREAT FAMILY DOG!  Good with kids, dogs, and likely cats too!

Nice and active, I love to swim and play ball and to curl up with you after a good walk, to watch tv or just  relax together, maybe have a good snooze.  I am about 65 pounds, could stand to drop a few pounds so maybe we could lose weight together walking every day!  Not a mean bone, I am spayed, vaccinated Max 5, Rabies, heartworm tested negative, dewormed & no fleas, vet checked.

I am in real good shape and healthy with a lot of mileage left!  Bright and cheerful, this Chocolate will be habit forming!

  Scooby

Scooby (nickname Scooby-Doo) is a delightful 2 year old (April 3)  boy, German Shepherd/Chow mix weighing 60 pounds.  He has a WONDERFUL disposition—not only is he affectionate, but very bright!  He loves lots of exercise—loves long walks and to play catch in the back yard.

This boy is very SOCIAL WITH OTHER DOGS.  Can be left alone in the house for a few hours with no problems, and he sleeps in his crate at night very settled.  He has not been with children nor was there any cats in his last home—he is being given up because of relocation by his owner.  Housetrained.

This is a great dog for the athletic couple or a family who enjoys time with their dog, Scooby might even love learning AGILITY and he is smart enough to do well!

Neutered, Scooby is vaccinated—Max 5, Bordatella, & Rabies up to date, heartworm tested negative, dewormed & defleaed just in case, and vet checked.  Scooby will make a wonderful pet for a family who have had dogs before!

  Bailey

At 2 months old, Bailey was no longer wanted, last kitten left of a litter and dumped.  This sweet girl has a lovely personality, curious, intelligent, and very friendly to other cats, likely would take to a dog in the household as well.

She is a brown tabby shorthair and beautifully marked.  She has the first of her kitten shots and has been dewormed, will be spayed when old enough.  An exceptional kitten, Bailey would be an asset to any feline-loving household!

  Chi-Chi

At slightly over 2 pounds, this male Mini-Chihuahua is 3 years old having been born September 2, 2006.  NO CHILDREN OR OTHER PETS as he is very tiny and could easily get hurt.  Chi-Chi has a WONDERFUL personality, does not bite or snap—just loves to cuddle and give wee kisses in return!  Very affectionate,  and perfectly trained to pee pads.

His owner wasn’t able to keep him anymore so Gerdy was asked to find him his perfect forever home. ChiChi needs someone who will dote on him with gentleness and have the time for him as he loves to be carried about in his wee doggy pouch that looks like a mini baby carrier!  He is not a toy!!  He is a living being who needs gentle affection and a lot of care—he cannot go outside in our winters, and needs to be with his person, so someone who is gone all day would not be suitable.

Heartworm tested negative, he is neutered with all his shots up to date including bordatella.  A wonderful nature, this wee dog is exceptional!

  Lucky

Hi!  I am 2 ½ years old and I am a real cute girl, but a little unusual!  I am half purebred Basset Hound and half purebred Black Lab, with a white chest!  I am a GREAT FAMILY DOG who was given up because of allergy.  So here I am searching for a new forever home!  I am a VERY good girl, housetrained, and not a mean bone! Friendly to other friendly dogs, I would get along with a cat.   I am about 58 pounds.  CRATE TRAINED.  Not a big barker.  I am also trained to use the treadmill—just offer me a treat to get me going and watch me go!  Supervised, of course!  But I prefer walks really, I am well behaved on leash, just need a tiny bit of work to be perfect. I can balance a treat on my nose til I am given permission to eat it; sit, lay down—you can teach me new tricks.

I like to play ball and in quiet times just be cuddled and loved, I am very affectionate, a lapdog at heart.  Beautiful expressive eyes.  I am spayed, vaccines to date, heartworm tested negative, dewormed, no fleas.   So if you want a Black Lab but NOT a tall one—I’m your girl!  Lucky is the person who adopts this Lucky.

I am a King Charles Spaniel X (my vet said 90 per cent King Charles!), and a wonderful 6 year old girl!  I am chubby at 23 pounds, but will be working at my weight loss program because I want to be in the best health possible!  The vet says I am in great shape tho!

My foster mum thinks I am the best natured little girl—she spent hours combing out knots in my long hair when I arrived and I did not snap once!  I was very patient and went to sleep during my grooming, after I had 3 baths—I was so filthy.

I have not been looked after properly in a long time, someone fed me way too much—maybe left food in my bowl all day—so I porked up because I was a bored eater!  Aren’t I beautiful?  Then why was I brought to be euthanized because they no longer wanted me—if Gerdy hadn’t taken me I would not be alive now.

I don’t understand—I am playful—nicely energetic, yet love to cuddle and get along with both cats & other dogs.  I would be good with kids 10 and up—I am not snappy it is just that I need to be treated more gently because of my size.

I am going to be spayed soon, and updated on my Max 5  shots, Bordatella & Rabies.  I have been dewormed & defleaed just in case.  No apartments, I do bark on occasion when I get excited!  I love little walks and just being around people!

So I have been entrusted to Gerdy to find me a new forever home.  I am a Sheltie of 35 pounds, 2 years old, in excellent health and temperament.  Not a mean bone, and I do not snap!  I am very smart and I am used to cats too, my best friend is a cat!  Calm, not a barker, I am a real gentleman dog!

I will be neutered, shots up to date, dewormed, no fleas, heartworm tested negative, vet checked.  I will be your devoted  best friend!

This well cared for boy is 9 ½ years old and is in good shape and active for his age, loving his walks, and with nice energy for playing.

Due to illness his owner can no longer take care of him and entrusted Gerdy with finding him a good forever home.  Cash is neutered, vaccines up to date, heartworm tested negative, no fleas, no parasites.  He is a nice boy, does not have a mean bone in his body and is the typical Velcro Dog Goldens are known to be!

He has good manners tho needs to be reminded now & then.  Very devoted, he just wants to have a home again.

Meet Mr. Smith, a 7 year old non shedding, X Schnauzer/Poodle mix.  Mr. Smith was abandoned for reasons unknown as he has proven to be a pure gentleman in everyway possible.  This boy is nothing but a complete delight in everyway possible.  He is clean in the home, respectful of boundaries, is neither toy nor food possessive, and gets along famously with canines and felines alike.

Mr. Smith has a comical and charming disposition and turns admiring heads no matter where he his little body goes.  Mr. Smith is overweight and requires a strict regime of daily walks and good food in moderation.  He is eager to play when enticed to do so as he loves his favorite ‘baby’.  Ideally, Mr. Smith should find a home without toddlers however respectful tweens and up would suit him fine.  Mr. Smith is a loyal and trustworthy companion who shines every room he enters.

If you are looking for a real gentleman who will curl up at the foot of your bed every night, loves to sleep in on weekends, and demands only hugs and kisses….then look no further.

These adorable and sweet  purebred TOY POMERANIANS  are to be PLACED TOGETHER, 6-7 months old and about 5 pounds each. NOT FOR AN APARTMENT as they cried for their previous owner when she was not there, she had babied them and they cried when she had to go out, that is why Gerdy got them, as apartment  neighbours complained.

These dogs are GREAT with kids, but NO SMALL CHILDREN as they are tiny dogs and small kids are too rough.  Great personalities, they are bonded brothers who are both housetrained to go indoors on peepads.

Magnificent little dogs, these guys will be neutered shortly, and have their vaccines, are dewormed, no fleas.  Calm and sweet pups, they have the true Pom nature, and LOVE to be cuddled.  EXCEPTIONALLY NICE PUPS!

  Rex

This is the PERFECT German Shepherd family dog! Loves people in general, kids, other nice dogs, cats too!  Beautiful  5 year old boy who is very even tempered and nice all-around dog.  It is hard to believe this boy was surrendered by a Quebec puppy mill, one of 60 dogs to make it out.

This handsome boy was one of the dogs living in the usual puppy mill conditions: covered in excrement etc.  Somehow Rex stayed gentle and good natured throughout his ordeal in that place, he is a very forgiving dog!  He is already trained.  Because of his experience in this place, he needs someone who will be home with him or who works from home because he needs to be with his people and get his confidence back as he gets scared and upset when left alone for EXTENDED periods of time.

He has had a crummy deal in life so far and is a REALLY GOOD DOG!  He deserves major spoiling and love from here on in.  Rex is neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccines Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies, dewormed & defleaed just in case.  Rex is truly a Wonder Dog—one of the most loving dogs, amazing and resilient, still positive and incredibly loving.  Is a good dog at the dog run as well.

  Spunky

This sweet about 3 month old male pup was found by a girl walking home from school in Greenfield Park.  She came across a cardboard box done tightly up with packing tape and heard whimpering inside.  Opening it, she was shocked to see this frightened little puppy, thin, cold, but otherwise in good health.   Gerdy was asked to take him over and find a good loving home.

We named him SPUNKY, because that’s what he is—in spite of having the scare of his young life, he is friendly, loving, and wants to be loved in return.  He gives puppy kisses and has big puppy eyes that shine with trust.  Black with white on his chest, he has the beginnings of long legs, and a long muzzle—he is going to be a handsome adult someday and a great family dog.

A Designer Original, it is hard to tell what his mix is—Lab/Beagle?? But right now he needs someone to feed him nourishing food, give him a warm bed, toys to play with and the social training all pups need to grow into trusted family dogs. He should have someone home all day as he is too young to be left all alone.

Included in his adoption fee will be his neuter at the proper time, and his puppy shots, deworming, and vet exam.  Spunky is ready for a real home after living in a box!

I am a wee girl of 8 pounds, not likely to get much bigger—I am a lapdog!  I am only 4 months old, and am a sweet small size Terrier mix.

I am very good natured and loving. I was going to be gassed at that high kill pound, but was one of the last lucky ones to be allowed to be saved by Gerdy.  Gerdy would like to see me in an adults only home as I am too dainty to be played with by children, I could get hurt by mistake.

I am in the process of being housetrained now. I have my Bordatella and puppy shots, my spay etc will be done by Gerdy’s at the proper time.

I have a nice personality and nature, not an ounce of mean in me!   I am a bitsy girl with a lot of love to give!

One of 60 dogs seized from a puppy mill,  Gucci (as we named him, puppy mill dogs are never named in the mill) is likely Tibetan Terrier/Schnauzer X.  A beautiful grey, he weighs 7 kg and is likely about 3 years old.

He will be neutered by us, his vaccines are to date—Bordatella, Max 5, and Rabies, he is dewormed & defleaed, and heartworm tested negative.  He was a dreadful sight when saved but looks good now he is all cleaned up!  He hasn’t a mean bone, but he is slightly nervous of people at first, this will improve as he regains his trust, he is a good dog who needs to forget and move on to happier times.

Not a tiny dog, but he can be carried, which he loves! He also loves a good massage and kind words!

  Tony

It is hard to understand why Tony and other great family dogs like him  were going to be gassed to death at a high kill pound, but we saved him and he is ready for a new life with a loving family of his own.  Tony is a 1 year old male Lab mix.  He is nicely energetic!

Loves to play, very friendly with other dogs, nice personality—not a mean bone.  Needs work on leash walking but as he is so eager to please, that should be easy for him to learn—he could lead the class in obedience as he is so smart!  Yet he is also a sensitive soul in his pensive moments—loves affection and soaks it up!

Neutered, vaccines up to date—Max 5, Rabies, Bordatella, he is dewormed and defleaed, vet checked, heartworm tested negative-- and raring to go to your home forever!

I am a very handsome big  Husky/Bernese Mountain Dog mix, 5 years old and about 110 pounds.  I have one  light blue and one brown eye—I look like I am winking at you!  Which I am, really!  My person had to move and couldn’t take me along, so she asked Gerdy to find me a very special and loving home, ideally with space enough for me to play!

I love the dog run where I am social with other friendly dogs, nice with kids but am a klutz with wee ones as I do not know how big I am around them!  I am good in the car and love to go for a drive.

Everyone says I am so dramatic looking, but I am also full of empathy for all your troubles—I am a good listener and will keep your secrets between us.  When I nap, I love to stretch out and you can give me a belly rub if you want to!

Housetrained,  I am neutered, heartworm tested negative, vaccines up to date including Bordatella, dewormed, defleaed just in case, vet examined—all set to go.  Playful yet pensive—the ideal companion—let’s meet for a playdate!

  Blondie

This beautiful girl with one blue eye, a pensive expression, and quiet devotion, is a far cry from the frightened dog we took out of a pound where she was about to be gassed to death, because no one claimed her.

Blondie is mostly a champagne golden retriever with a bit of husky, hence the blue eye!  Mostly a Golden, she has the nature and sweet temperament of the true Golden Retriever, clingy to her people (currently those who saved her).  She was a delight at the vet, very well behaved.

Blondie is very skinny right now, but with loving care will put on weight.  She is tested heartworm free and has no worms or parasites.  She will be spayed & vaccinated by Gerdy’s when she is over the kennel cough she has, for which she is receiving medication.

Blondie is about a year and a half old, a very dear dog who has seen too many bad things in her stay at the pound and is a survivor, still able to love and trust people, with not a mean bone in her body.

Hi folks! I am a medium size Dalmation Mix and they say I am a real sweetheart!  I am a dignified doggy, good with other friendly dogs, and 4 years old.  I just had my neuter done and at the same time they cleaned my teeth!

My family abandoned me when they moved, I didn’t understand and I got terribly depressed because it was a shock to me, I did nothing to deserve that.  Gerdy’s attention was brought to me and I soon became a Gerdy’s Dog—lucky me!  I have a little head on a bigger body, but I am smart and loving.

I would LOVE a home with a quiet person or couple who just want quiet walks with their canine soulmate.  I am a ONE OF A KIND DESIGNER ORIGINAL, proving that God indeed has a sense of humour because he knew I would brighten the day of someone who needs me as much as I need them!

Neutered, vaccines, heartworm tested negative, defleaed, dewormed, Bordatella vaccinated, teeth cleaned —I am good to go with you to my forever home!

Vaccines—Max 5, Bordatella, Rabies done, defleaed & dewormed, heartworm tested negative. She is a little lady who is going to love a lucky someone a lot! Alice is tri-colour, and is 4 years old. She was given up by a breeder going out of business. Very trusting, she just wants love.

Well the ears suggested the name!  I am about 3 years old and am a 29 pound FRENCH BULLDOG X.  I have the nicest disposition ever, love to play, and go for long walks.  I LOVE to play chase the ball!  I get along with other friendly dogs.  I was one of the Lucky Twenty dogs Gerdy’s was able to take from a kill pound, where we would have been gassed one after the other.

I have come a long way from being a frightened and shivering, silent-from-shock dog.  Now I am restored to life anew and look forward to someone loving my little bully mug!

I will be neutered shortly, vaccines all up to date, dewormed, defleaed just in case, and heartworm tested negative, just about set to go. Everyone loves me who has met me—but I just want YOU!

Midnight is a black Domestic Shorthair, who has now been neutered and vaccinated. He is about 1 year old, is very playful, and likes people. He had belonged to drug addicts who when told to move, did, but Midnight was thrown outside into the cold at the same time. He was being fed outside but has just been taken in where he cannot stay for long without a new home to go to.

Please consider helping this young fellow down on his luck with the human race, he is little more than a baby and has already been through enough misery to last a lifetime. He would be so grateful and you would be saving a life!

This three year old Yorkiepoo is a mix of Yorkshire Terrier and Mini Poodle.  She was found abandoned even tho was obviously a spoiled dog at one time, used to the finer things in life!

We have had her teeth cleaned and she is spayed, heartworm tested negative, vaccines up to date, defleaed & dewormed. She does bark when excited so is not suitable for apartment life where it has to be quiet at all times.

She is a little diva, very playful, loves to be the center of attention, travels well by car. Lovely curly coat and a girlygirl face that is completely lovable!  Will need a bit of a reminder on housetraining as she had been caged for awhile.

Vaccines up to date, spayed, FIV/FelV tested negative, defleaed & dewormed just in case, Naomi is well named after her Biblical namesake and is a gentle and loving spirit.  A forever friend to someone who makes her a life companion.

This sweet female tortoiseshell domestic shorthair is a little treasure! Found half dead from hunger and cold, this only 4 months old baby has made a full recovery and needs her forever home.

Loves children, she welcomes being petted and is nicely energetic, loving to play. A quiet kitty so far, she promises to be a loving family pet for the rest of her life.

I was found with Brad in a  tiny cage in the summer, abandoned outside behind a building in back of a race track.  We were lucky as we had been there some time before we were found. Probably were breeding dogs abandoned when we were of no more use, we were very traumatized by this ordeal, and did not trust people after that.

I especially have come a long way, I am a Long Haired Chihuahua and thought to be about  5  years old by the vet who saw me after.  I was spayed, heartworm tested negative, given my vaccines Max 5, Bordatella, and Rabies.  Dewormed & defleaed.  I need a very special person to work with me on my trust issues, but it now only takes me a few minutes til I get used to a person and allow myself to be held.

Not for a home with kids, I am looking for peace and quiet and security.  I LOVE being held but am scared of strangers—tho I am gradually learning to warm up to people.  I have fluffy long hair.   I have great potential if a quiet, small- dog experienced person will give me a chance!

I am a little girl for my age of about a year now.  I am a Domestic Shorthair Calico.  I have a gentle, sweet nature, and am sooo affectionate.  I need your help now.  I found a loving home last winter as a kitten, I sat on a windowsill looking into a nice warm house.  I was so cold!

The kind people saw me and brought me inside to safety and have kept me ever since.  But for some reason their cats did not like me and never made me feel welcome, and now the family and cats are moving out of the province.  A new home for me has to be found, so Gerdy will help me.  I am the BEST cattie EVER!

I am spayed, shots updated, feline AIDS/leukemia negative, dewormed — all set to move in with you and be your indoor darling!  I am just a little Tidbit of a cat, can you make room for me?

A sweet 4 year old, Geraldine is the smallest of the 4 girls. Geraldine is curious, friendly and nicely placeful, loves to be cuddled.

Another dog rescued from the kill pound and saved from euthanasia by gassing, BALTO is about 1 ½ years old and is a male Malamute mix.  He is a very good dog! Handsome and gentle, he is glad to be alive in spite of the kennel cough he got from that place.

Balto is being treated by our vet with medication, when he is better he will be neutered by us, and will have all the vaccines and other med things we do for all our dogs  included in his adoption fee.  Balto is as noble as his namesake and will make someone a great pet.  He is very calm and will make a great family dog.

  Zubin

This Domestic Shorthair male is 11 months old, and LOVES AFFECTION!  He is a contented and happy cat and is “strong as an ox” –very healthy!  Not at all nervous, but takes life with a relaxed style of his own, really laid-back.  Not at all aggressive with other cats, likely would accept a friendly dog.

Because he was picked on by other male cats in his household, he went to a neighbour’s where he slept outside in the cold in a little house made from blankets, all day and all night in the bitter cold rather than face the wrath of the unfriendly cats –he is a lover not a fighter!  His owner agreed to her finding him a new home where he could go inside safely rather than freeze outside.

He was given his feline shots, NEUTERED, was dewormed, has no fleas.  Two claws on the left paw were partially removed and cleaned up.  All set to go to his new life in a warm home!

Compassionate Placement

Like his namesake, Sebastian Bach, our Sebastian is TOTALLY BLIND. He doesn’t know he has a disability because his sense of smell and hearing help him find his way around. He is a black domestic semi-longhair of about a year old.  Fantastic big green eyes give no indication he can’t see, and he sees his world as part of a wonderful universe of which he is, of course, the center!

A calm, wise boy, he has a dignity and serenity far beyond his age. He must have been loved at one time, because he is comfortable being held affectionately. He was found on a street, severely injured by an animal bite, likely a dog. Found by a compassionate person, he was rushed to a vet where they stitched him up and he is now recovering.

Feline AIDS/Leukemia tested negative, he will be neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, no fleas. He is capable of a near normal life INDOORS ONLY! No small children to scare him, he needs a quiet serene homelife. Can you and Sebastian make sweet music together?

I am a medium size girl, a little Black Lab mix with one blue eye and the other brown!  I am thought to be less than a year old,  I still having my energetic puppy ways, and love the whole world!  I am lucky to be alive, as a kind soul picked me off a highway where I had been dropped off, unwanted, by someone who did not care if I lived or died... they just wanted me gone.

Being so young I need lots of exercise to run off my puppy exuberance and a fenced yard to play in with you throwing a ball—I love to fetch!  Sort of—I like to run with the ball!

So cheerful and an innocent soul, I look forward to having a family of my own forever.  I am truly a Melody of love!

This 1 year old female Tri-colour Basset Hound is about 45 pounds, very playful and good natured as is the typical Basset, not a mean bone, needs exercise as do all young Bassets.

Maggie who thinks she is a lap dog, is spayed, all vaccines up to date, heartworm tested negative, defleaed & dewormed. Almost housetrained because she had belonged to someone who left her alone for long periods. As there was no time for her, she missed out on her training but is doing well in foster with consistency. She is a delightful girl with lots of spunk!

This wee 11 pound boy is about 11/2 years old  and is a Pomeranian mix (maybe with Chihuahua) and he is the BEST dog in the world!

Very sweet and kind, loves to go for walks and is playful, at the same time, he LOVES his crate at night to sleep in or when you are gone during the day, he does not bark in it. He loves people, other little dogs AND cats too, not a mean bone!

He is a lovely rusty colour, his fur is not long and fine, but a bit wavy and thicker in texture, very easy care.  Neutered, all vaccines, etc, he was 1 day from euthanasia—now he has a new leash on life.  He was found as a stray and unclaimed.

Will you give him the forever home he deserves?

  Noisette

This very SWEET NATURED 2 year old mix Black Lab/Boxer girl deserves a loving home. She was found with her 2 pups -- an abandoned family -- by a kind person. Mama was doing her best to feed her babies, tho she herself was skinny, starving and dehydrated, -- found  behind a building. She was a GOOD mothe, consequently, her gentle babies were adopted from Gerdy’s, but Noisette remains with us, unwanted so far.

This girl has SO MUCH to offer -- housetrained, doesn’t bark, knows how to “sit” but needs a bit of training work for the rest. Now she is spayed, all needed vaccines done, heartworm tested negative, flea & parasite free. And is a rather compact petite 48 pounds, just right for a family companion!

One of her back paws is almost useless, likely from an old injury, vet examined and found to cause no pain and recommended it just be left that way—she can still run, play, and walk miles!

Noisette is so GENTLE and very sweet natured and asks only for a forever home, unconditional love and a chance to show you her outstanding character!

  Rocky

Rocky is a wonderful mix of many different breeds which cannot be pin-pointed.  He is a 1.5 year old that can only be described as comical and confident as to who he is.  Rocky is now with Gerdy because he was recently taken in by a loving family whose dogs just did not like Rocky so they asked Gerdy to help.

Once you meet Rocky you will see the positive energy he projects.  With training Rocky could be an amazing therapy dog as he brings out a smile in everyone he meets.  Rocky is crate trained and may require a little more house training before he can be given complete freedom within the home.

He also would benefit with a basic training course as he does have a tendency to jump a little.  Rocky has not been tested with small children however tweens and up would be ideal.  He is great with other dogs and has lived with cats.

Neutered, vaccines, heartworm tested negative, no fleas or parasites. No need to wait once a year for the Just for Laughs Festival – Rocky will keep you entertained forever.

Hi folks!  I’m a real sweet natured girl of 2.4 years old and I will be a great family dog for you.  I love the car and travel well.  I am housetrained, but need a bit of work on my walking behavior—then I will be just about perfect!!  I am about 55 pounds and full grown.  Tiny dab of white on my chest, otherwise I am a sleek glossy black with eyes that would melt the coldest heart!

Spayed, vaccinated to date, heartworm tested, I am good to go to my new forever home.  I was given up because my person is changing jobs and can’t keep me with him any more.  I have an excellent appetite like all Labs, and am a Black Lab mix—very trustworthy and loving nature.

Hi Folks!  I am a seven year old Golden Lab boy and I have a delightful energy level and love to play, go for walks, and just generally hang out with people; social with kids & adults.  I just bark to let you know when people come to the door as I am pleased to see them.

My family was expecting another child and felt they could not give me the time I deserve anymore, so Gerdy will find me a new home.  I let kids climb over me in my old home, but expected to eat from my bowl in peace at mealtimes without interference — just simple respect I deserved!

I LOVE MUSIC!!  I sing along to children’s music much to their delight!  Clown, friend, confidante, companion—look no further than me, Caramel.  Untried with cats, so maybe no cats in the house.   I am strong so I need some muscle to walk me!

Gerdy feels I would do best in a home with active people-- I might be 7 but I am in shape!   I am neutered, vaccines including Bordatella & Rabies, heartworm tested and on Revolution, I am good to go!

Weighing in at  a fit 44 pounds -- lean but certainly  NOT mean -- Rocky is a sure bet! Nicely active, with his soulful eyes and big hearted ways, he is a champion through and through.  He might even remind you of Stallone if you give your imagination a stretch!

Our Rocky had  a scripted life, being abandoned on the street to a life of woe. Along the way he meets good people who see the hero in him and give him a boost up to get his chance to win his forever home.

Along the way, this 1 ½ year old Bassethound deals with being neutered, having his teeth cleaned to movie star whiteness, vaccinated including Bordatella, being heartworm tested (negative), dewormed and defleaed after he is taken in by Gerdy, who manages him along the way.

Then finally, his big break comes!  Can he do it?  Will he get the home this brave crusader deserves?  Will someone give him the only thing he ever really wants—a home?  Please write the perfect ending to ‘Rocky-- Bassethound Underdog’, and make Rocky a real winner!

  Stitch

My name is Stitch and I am a beautiful Shih Tzu male, approximately 6 years of age.  I was abandoned at a shelter where I sat day after day waiting for someone to save me – no one even asked my name.  One bright day a lady named Gerdy opened my cage door, took me in her arms and gently whispered that I will be loved once again.  Finally I felt hope!

Gerdy immediately noticed that I had not lived a good life, in fact it had been filled with pain due to severe neglect.  Gerdy’s vet says I had been suffering with ear, eye, and skin infection for quite some time.  After good vet care I am now fit and ready for adoption as a normal, healthy dog!

I am gentle, affectionate and very loving to whomever I meet.  I have forgiven and I am ready to enjoy the rest of my life with my new forever family.  I am hoping that another guardian angel will take me into their home and heart, where I can live my life surrounded by unconditional love – both ways.

Stitch has been recently neutered, vaccines including Bordatella & Rabies, heartworm tested.  He is an extremely deserving old soul with depth & courage in a rejuvenated young body that is now ready to start a good life… finally.

ROCKY is my name, but fighting is NOT my game!  More like Rocky Road ice cream—I have chocolate sundae soft brown eyes that will melt your heart,  ripple patterned  fur of chocolate, caramel, with a bit of vanilla;  I’m great to cuddle up with in times of stress!  I have been very much loved but with a new baby and another active dog, there was not the time for me that I deserve, so it is hoped I can go onto star billing in your family!

I am a SUPER GREAT FAMILY DOG!  Get this—very trusting and loving (I give kisses too!), Quiet & cuddly on those long winter nights, I LOVE walks AND I am  Ball Player extrordinaire!  I love to swim on those hot summer days— I had a baby pool to myself!  You can even put your hand in my bowl as I eat—but hey—I DO deserve to eat in peace!  Now every ROCKY needs training to do his best—so a bit of obedience work will let me learn not to jump up to give kisses!  I am crate trained as well.

A very loyal Part German Shepherd/Lab mix, 65 pounds,  I was brought up with another dog and I am used to cats and other dogs.  I like people too!  You can brush me, clip my nails, give a bath—I am a good boy, and did I mention I am good walking on leash?  I am almost 2 ½ years old, born June 2006.

This little 11 month old Jack Russell Terrier/Poodle cross is about 8 pounds and is full of beans.  His ‘breed’ was misrepresented at the pet store which resulted in the orginal owners being badly equipped to handle who he really is.

Little Skipper is an active little man who requires guidance and the proper stimulation to satisfy his requirements.  Skipper needs a family who is familiar with the breed and has puppy/dog experience only.  Skipper is crate trained.

Skipper is good with dogs and has spent the better part of his puppy hood with children but cannot live with smaller animals or cats.  He has a comical personality who is willing to please.  He is very active and requires a lot of mental and physical stimulation which is typical for his breed.

Skipper will be scheduled for neutering; his vaccines are up to date, flea and parasite free. If you can be Skipper’s Captain and provide him with the love and the gentle guidance he requires, then please consider Skipper as part of your life.

I was kept at a vet clinic as a blood donor cat, then I came to Gerdy as I was going to be euthanized after I fulfilled my mission!    I have been in wonderful foster care but I really feel down not having anyone want me after I was such a heroine giving my blood.

  Choupette

This sweet tricoloured  female BEAGLE was relegated to a garage where she spent the first 5 years of her life mostly in a cage on the cement floor so she wouldn’t aggravate an allergy of someone in the house!

When we got her she was dreadfully emaciated, a skinnier dog she could not have been. Still she was friendly but badly frightened until she got used to good people being around her. Her only sign of continuing trauma came at feeding time when she ate like there was no tomorrow. Obviously deprived of food, she suffered from guarding her food bowl as a result. It is being worked on with her, and is one of the easiest problems to cure in a dog.

In her case, it is anxiety over near starvation, self preservation & fighting to stay alive.  She is not a mean dog, she is just scared of starvation again. With time and patience, that should be overcome.

However, for now, no small children until she is confident again of future meals.  Patient and dog familiar adults are what she desperately needs to help her become a carefree Beagle! Spayed, Choupette  has her shots, Rabies, heartworm tested, Bordatella vaccinated, defleaed & deworrmed, just in case. She is VERY loving in spite of her past.

Well I am the MOST LOVING survivor of the outdoor life you ever saw!  I am SOOOO grateful to be an indoor cat, I just love to be warm in winter!   I am a male Black Domestic Shorthair about a year and a half old, who was fed by a nice lady for a long time outside before I trusted her enough that I finally went in her home, and connected with Gerdy, who said she’d get me my forever warm and comfy home.

I LOVE everyone, people, cats, dogs if I have to…I am so social—I make everyone smile.  Black cats have a hard time finding a home because no one notices us, but Mr Social Me comes right up to people to be fussed over.

  Big Moose (TiMoose)

My devoted owner can no longer live by himself and care for himself or me, and the family hopes for someone to give Big Moose as good a home as he formerly had.  Big Moose is about 3 years old, healthy but a tad overweight as a result of loving indulgences by the man who loved his cat! DECLAWED IN FRONT, he is neutered and up to date on his shots.  Feline AIDS and Leukemia tested negative.

He has a bit of a John Wayne walk,  a swagger, because he has a slight birth defect in one of his hips, but it doesn’t bother him and did not concern his vet.  Used to living a peaceful life with an elderly man, probably would like to continue that lifestyle, so maybe no kids.  Loves to be petted, purrs especially when getting his head scratched, not fussy about getting picked up all the time, after all, he has dignity!  Had his fur shaved a couple of months ago with a healthy coat growing back.

Big Moose is a very sweet cat and enjoys his intellectual pursuits with style and grace. Domestic longhair.

  Spirit

Hi! My name is Spirit and I am a 2 year old male dramatic-looking black Husky mix with one BLUE and one BROWN eye. I am a simply happy go lucky guy that is curious about everyone and everything.

I am very sociable with adults, children of all ages and other dogs. I have been very well trained by my previous owner so I know all my commands and can even be walked off leash at dog walks and runs. I know all kinds of tricks including giving a high five - speaking on command and saying please for my food.

I am a very active dog but I do know how to relax after a hard day and can be quite calm. I love attention - belly rubs and licking faces. I am known to sneak on the couch while you are watching TV.  I would do well with families, couples or someone who understands my character and can provide me with a solid structure of training and play.

You can bribe me anytime with food - I'll do almost anything for cheese and peanut butter.  I am fully house trained and can give you a warning when I need to go out for a walk. My person has a new job and I cannot go with him much to his sorrow, so I am back with Gerdy's again.

Neutered, shots up to date, heartworm tested and on preventative, are you ready for a bit of Spirit in your life?

  Murray

I am a good typical Blond Lab purebred boy of 5 years.  I am VERY good with kids, other dogs, probably cats as my nature is so sweet.

I love people too.  I am playful but nice at it, I need a bit of obedience training on leash but we can work on that together, I am anxious to please!

I had a bit of surgery to remove a small harmless growth near my eye, I was rubbing it and Gerdy’s vet recommended take it off and make me more handsome besides!  I am everyone’s friend, a true Murray!

I was abandoned by my previous owner, I didn’t do anything to deserve that, I guess they just got tired of me.  Now I am a Gerdy’s dog and I am so cheerful and look on the bright side—I will get a home at your place forever!

I am now neutered, all vaccinations up to date, heartworm tested negative and on preventative, flea & parasite free—ready to go!

  Storm

This 30 lbs little 7 month old Boxer cross female is so petite and delicate in stature. She was originally purchased at a pet shop by a loving young couple who soon realized that puppies require a lot of attention then they were able to provide.

Storm is a gentle well balanced puppy who lived with cats and kittens and posed no threat.  She is crate trained but has very limited training while on leash and house etiquette.  She will require a family who has patience and who have puppy/dog experience.

Storm has passed her behavior evaluation with flying colors.  She would greatly benefit from having an active family with or without children, dogs and cats.

If you can provide this playful puppy with lots of exercise, guidance and love then little Storm will tornado her way into your hearts.

Storm has been fully vaccinated, spayed, flea and parasite free (just in case) and on heartworm prevention.  Storm is ready for her second chance to find all the love in the right place.

Hi there!  I am a typical Blond Lab of 6 years young!  I am SUCH a good boy in every way--not a mean bone, playful, loving and affectionate and as energetic as a dog much younger.

I LOVE my life and greet each day with joy and optimism!  I love to travel in the car, love to hike with you, and even have gone camping.  I am totally trustworthy with kids, and only bark occasionally being pretty calm most of the time. I don't jump up on people but dance around them!  I know sit, lay, come, and stay--but you might need to remind me!

I LOVE to play with other dogs and have lots of energy for nice friends at the dog park. No known allergies.  I am neutered with all shots needed up to date, heartworm tested negative, and on heartworm preventative.

I am so handsome, but I like to hear you say that to me!  My friendly and trusting eyes are the mirror of my soul.  Want a life companion?--I'm your man!

This 5 pound sweetheart is a wee Pomeranian girl, as sweet as they come, loves kids, cats, other dogs, no issues.  She came to us with a broken leg, and in spite of this complication, was adopted right away.

She now lives with another Pom and a new mum and dad.  She was spayed, all her shots, and has her heartworm preventative.

  Henry

As the song sort of went—“I’m Henry the Great I am”!  Well it wasn’t so great at the time for me—I was given a job in my last home, living in a doghouse where I was tied up and expected to meet newcomers with a growl.  I failed the job miserably, greeting everyone with a loving handshake and a big greeting kiss!  Lucky for me, my owners realized I was a true family dog and happily fired me from the job and relocated me with Gerdy in my own best interest, realizing I need a family life filled with love, laughter, and affection.

So here I am. Waiting for you, a 10 month old Labrador/Bouvier des Flandres cross.  My fur is jet black which is wirery but soft to the touch.  I have not had much structure in my life, and therefore wil require someone to teach me to be a great canine citizen.  I am very active and love to play and be given lots of love and attention.  I passed my behavior evaluation and was found to have no aggressive tendencies and I will let you play with my toys and even eat out of my food bowl if you like—ha ha!  I would love an active family, maybe with older kids or another friendly dog.  I am neutered, with all my shots. Heartworm tested negative, flea and parasite treated just in case, Bordatella vaccinated.

I promise, if you love and cherish me I will return it ten times over!  Remember—“I’m Henry the Great I am!—just about as Great as they come in every way!

I am a white and black 9 pound  ShihTsu girl with a darling personality!  Everyone who meets me, loves me.  Why then, did someone leave me tied in a park for 2 days in the rain with a little bag of dry dogfood beside me?  I didn’t deserve THAT!

I was discovered finally by people who were shocked that  people saw me but no one helped.  They asked Gerdy to help me, which they did.  So now I am spayed, shots up to date, heartworm tested negative and on heartworm preventative, no fleas or parasites.  I am ready to go!

I love other friendly dogs, probably would accept cats.  I love to be carried around and cuddled, I am VERY affectionate!  Love little walkies too!  ONLY 1 ½ YEARS OLD!

  Maggie ("The Streak")

This adorable 12 pound beauty is all charm—not a snap in her for anyone!  Quiet, well behaved, excellent with other friendly dogs and cats, playful, and perfectly crate trained.  She has the beauty of a little fox, with a wise little face.  She LOVES to run, that is why she is nicknamed “the Streak”!

She is a walker with stamina too, can keep up with the bigger dogs.  But is so well-behaved in the home, a very loving  one year old girl.  Needs a FENCED IN YARD because if she ever got loose she’s be gone in a flash!

This is an exceptional doggie pal and a real delight.  Maggie is a cross between a Pomeranian and a Papillon—a fluffy tail over her back carried proudly.  Spayed, all shots up to date, started on Revolution for heartworm prevention (tested negative), Bordatella vaccinated, no fleas or worms.

Sadly given up because of illness, Maggie will bring joy into any home!

Hi!  I am a bouncing boy of a Golden Retriever mum and a Golden Retriever/Blond Lab mix dad—I am so handsome!  I look just like a Golden retriever with the nature to match AND I have fabulous white highlights as well!  I had a very unfortunate grooming tho—someone gave me a bad hair day—but it will grow out!  But my coat will  look even more handsome when it does.

I am 18 months old and was given up because my family didn’t have the proper time for me anymore.  I need obedience training as I act like a fool when I am happy and playful—rambunctious—but I can settle down too.

I just need to learn manners in the worst way!  I am full of love and affection.  Gerdy suggests older kids as I jump on people right now, I don’t know any better!  But I am very smart and eager to please as well, so if you have training patience with me you are going to have a very loyal dog!  I have the friendliest smile too.

Neutered, shots up to date, heartworm tested negative, Bordatella vaccine, Revolution for fleas & worms just in case.  I am set to GO!  Ready is my second name!!

  Tia

Hi my name is Tia.  I am a gorgeous purebred Doberman with a docked tail and perfectly natural ears.  I am the gentlest girl you will ever meet.  I am a 65 lbs, 9 month old puppy and I have so much affection to offer – I am not a watchdog!

Being very affectionate and playful I will need some basic training on leash.  I do know Sit, Lie down and I am still working on the stay part.  Since I have not been taught off leash, I will take a long stroll away, so I need to learn that I must stay near my humans.

I passed my behavioral test with flying colors.  I have no toy or food aggression and I am willing to share them with children.  Did I mention that I absolutely LOVE kids!  When I need to go outside I will get your attention and will go to the door.

I am good with dogs with the proper introduction since I have not been exposed to many of my peers.  I am not familiar with cats and I will chase them – you do not want that!  I was never crated and never alone, so I cry when no one is home.

I need a fully fenced house, not a condo or apartment and someone around during the day rather than just leaving me for hours on end.  Do you work at home?  I can be packed in a minute!

I am perfect in every way.  I am here with Gerdy because originally someone did not have any time for me.  I was then given to another family that loved me very much however the landlord had a height restriction on four legged residents – I was apparently too tall.  My owner tried desperately to fight the decision but was given a final notice. Well, I sure wasn’t going to volunteer and get my legs docked to fit that requirement, so here I am at Gerdy’s, where a tall distinguished gal can get a good forever home!

I am spayed, all shots up to date, heartworm tested negative and on Revolution heartworm preventative, no fleas or worms.

This 2 year old purebred Golden Retriever is a handsome deep rust shade, a magnificent dog.  He is 66 pounds, and has a wonderful nature, ideal family dog—playful yet can settle down nicely.

Housetrained, he loves his walks but needs a bit more work on leash etiquette.  Very well-cared for healthy dog, happy and carefree, typical Golden!  Was given up because children were not committed to help care for him and the owners felt he needed more attention.  Gorgeous coat!

Neutered, shots to date including bordatella, heartworm test negative and on heartworm seasonal preventative, he is just asking to be YOUR Buddy!

I am the DEAREST girl!  And they say I am about 2 years old and around 60  pounds.  I am a trustworthy  Black Lab Mix with a tiny bit of white on my chest, I have an elegant long nose too. Being  a real lady, I was SO GOOD at the vet even tho I was so scared because I have been through a lot.

Found on the street on moving day, I was apparently left outside when my people moved away, maybe they were not allowed a dog in the new apartment—but here I am looking for a FOREVER home with you.

Gerdy thinks I will be a wonderful family dog and that I might get along with cats too as I am such a sweetie.  A nice CALM dog, I really show my feelings by the expression of my intelligent and understanding brown soft eyes!

I travel extremely well in the car!   Spayed, shots up to date including Bordatella, I am heartworm tested (negative), and have started my Revolution heartworm preventative.  Easy to walk, I will not drag you off somewhere!  This Terry is for YOU!

Hi!  I am a Chocolate Lab boy of about 1 to 1 and 1/2 years old, very sweet and friendly.  I was dumped out of a car on the road like so many unwanted dogs when people move.  I don’t know why they didn’t take me, I did nothing to deserve that.  I tried to be a good boy. I thought my family would love me forever.  Maybe I grew too big!  Maybe they got tired of me!

Everyone at Gerdy’s loves me, and the lady who saved me and kept me from getting hit by a car, also says I am deserving of a good forever home where a scare like that will never happen to me again.  Everyone has been so good to me through my ordeal.

I will be neutered soon, and have all my shots and Bordatella up to date, with heartworm test and Revolution started as heartworm preventative.  I am such a trusting, sweet boy—I promise you will be glad you called Gerdy so you can meet me and make me yours forever.

  Shadow

This sweet 5  year old black and white  BORDER COLLIE ideally needs an older couple or a single person who is home all day, perhaps working from home or in retirement.

Shadow needs someone who truly enjoys working with dogs with the objective of having a lifelong devoted companion. Shadow was very loved in his past home, but due to life’s circumstances they were unable to keep him, and they miss him terribly. He  was their pride and joy but  they did not socialize him enough as a pup. We have been working on  that and Shadow is now at the point where adoption would be the best thing that could happen to him right now. No young kids just yet.

Shadow gets used to new people quickly now and just needs a bit of adjustment time. He walks well on leash, has been around other friendly dogs. He is not hyperactive—just being a dear pal suits him fine!  He enjoys his walks on leash, and has the most fantastic eyes—one brown and the other blue-green. Untried with cats.

Neutered, shots updated, heartworm tested negative, Bordatella vaccinated, dewormed & defleaed—just in case. Shadow is a good boy who just needs a human partner to bring out his best!

Spayed, heartworm tested negative, shots up to date, defleaed & dewormed just in case. This sweet girl is very deserving of a calm dog-loving home!

  Pascha

A kind woman rescued me from a traffic jam that I caused myself, trying to cross a busy thoroughfare against the lights.  I might not have made it through another day had she not picked me up on Easter Sunday.  That's why they named me Pascha.

I am a SIMPLY WONDERFUL young family dog - my vet estimates me at about 8 months, a sweet little medium-sized Lab-mix boy of about 50 pounds. I am very well-behaved in my foster home.  No messes, no chewing - even though they have to leave me alone for the better part of the day.  I was a dog on a chain by my manner, and I am SO grateful for changing to life indoors with her family.  I like my time outside though, and I love to exercise!

Hey—I LIKE CATS!!  I love people, horses and kids, although I’d be better off with older children as I still get scared sometimes.  I’d love to go to a home where somebody’s there all day, although it’s not a must if I get my proper exercise.

Neutered, shots, heartworm tested negative, defleaed & dewormed, just in case.   I just want someone to love all my life.  I had an injured tail and a bad ear infection, but everything’s OK now!  I make everyone who sees me smile - you can’t be in a bad mood with ME around!"

They say I am the MOST handsome cat!  I am a Domestic Shorthair tabby about 1 1/2 to 2 years old.  Gerdy got a call that a cat was found limping around on the street and  was holding up a paw.

She had me seen by a vet, and  he fixed up my abcessed paw and had me neutered, tested for FIV/Leukemia (negative), shots up to date, and Revolution for fleas & worms just in case.  I am the FRIENDLIEST of cats!

I have a GREAT PERSONALITY too, and love to be held and loved.  I have a wonderfully patterned coat and nice fur,  gorgeous bedroom eyes too!!  I don’t want to be ever put outside again, I am strictly a homebody!

If you need a Little Boy to care for, I’m your cat!

Hi Folks!  I am a PUPPY, a 4 month old LAB/BERNESE. I was given up because I wanted to play with the family cats but they just got me SO excited, that my people felt the cats were going to have a nervous breakdown if they kept me!

I am VERY SMART and can figure out lots of stuff—they say I will be easy to obedience train—hey could we have lessons together as we become pals?  I have a VERY kind heart, not a mean bone in my body—but I just LOVE to play and have fun!  I would love a big brother or sister dog to play with and look up to—or just be by myself with my new family.

Since I am a young pup, no tiny kids to pull my ears and tail, please!  I need a bit of help with my housetraining, but I am a quick learner and anxious to please you.  I would like someone who is home a lot as I will have to go out more frequently than a grownup dog!  Maybe I could curl up near you as you work on your computer?  Then I would take you for a nice walk to get you relaxed!

I am to be neutered, have my shots up to date, vet checked, flea and parasite free.  Look into my trusting eyes and say you will love me all my life!

  Colby

Colby’s family had no more time for him but Gerdy’s Rescue does.  Colby is a cross lab/golden who is 6 years young.  He is a gentle soul with an excellent disposition.  He has wonderful house manners and can be left alone for a full work day.

Colby is excellent with children, cats and dogs. He does not mind sharing his food, toys or favorite bone with his foster feline family.  Colby is in excellent physical shape however he cannot eat chicken due to possible allergies.  Colby is learning how to walk respectfully on leash and is learning to come when called while off leash.

He is bright and eager to be loved and petted which is something that he lacked. His coat is now shiny and healthy and Colby loves his special grooming time with his foster mom.

Colby is a treasure.  He is a pretty laid back boy and all that is required is love and a spot in a family’s life – forever. Colby’s waits patiently for that special someone to enter his life. Neutered, all shots to date, heartworm tested negative, flea & parasite free.

  Olivia

What a sweet brave little girl! Imagine yourself abandoned, cold, wet and hungry during this year’s hazardous winter. Luckily for 1 year old Olivia her anguished cries were heard by a Good Samaritan who could no longer ignore her desperation. She is currently being fostered for Gerdy’s in safety, but needs her own forever home soon as possible.

She is now used to other cats and dogs and gets along well with them. VERY affectionate, she loves to be cuddled and sleeping on or with people. Well-mannered, good natured, not overly active, she is vocal in her affection and gives contented little “head butts”. This is a cat for people wanting a REAL CUDDLER!

This grey and white semi-longhair has a gorgeous coat with little shedding, her foster mum brushes her daily—which she loves—and her foster also says she is one of the nicest cats she has ever cared for in foster. Now Olivis’s stars need to align to find her a forever family to protect and cherish her—and she in return.

Can you be Olivia’s Champion and tell Gerdy the stars have just aligned for dear Olivia? She is spayed, FIV and FelV tested, dewormed & defleaed just in case!

I am such a DEAR little girl of 4 months.  I am part German Shepherd and part Collie, with a cute tuft of long hair on top of my head.  I was abandoned at a shelter by someone who didn’t want me and Gerdy saw me there all frightened and scared—boy—was I glad to see a friendly face!

They took me then and there right to a vet to get me all ready for adoption so I will have all my shots, I will be spayed by Gerdy’s Rescues when I am old enough.  Gerdy will tell you I am playful and eager to please, without a mean bone in my little (for now!) body.  I am just the right age to start my puppy training if you want to take me to a class.

They don’t know if I am housetrained, but I am a smart girl and want to please, so will be a quick learner!  I am a happy pup, who likes to cuddle too!

This pup came Gerdy’s way during our Plant sale!  Gerdy rushed down to get him and brought him back to the sale with her.  One of our friends who was helping sell items, took one look at him and adopted him on the spot—our fastest adoption ever!  Juniour (now called Ollie) is 4 months old and a mix of Black Lab/Newfoundland.

A very nice temperament, he is a great family dog and this abandoned Mr. Personality Plus now has the best home ever with 2 Shih Tsu brothers, and the three of them love to play.  He thinks he is a Shih Tsu too as he tries to make his big body tiny during play with his new brothers!

  Frippon

This delightfully energetic little boy 7 years young is a handsome and well behaved Bichon Maltese, who was abandoned by his family, and thus faced euthanasia.  He LOVES his walkies!!

He trots right along, you’d think he was a year or 2 instead of 7, he is in fine shape. HYPOALLERGENIC, this breed can live a very long life.

This little Diva wannabe has the typical small dog attitude to big dogs, he does not know his size.  Best in a home without small children, but with dogs and cats in his foster home, preferring  non-threatening dogs who will let him be leader of the pack, even if they are larger than him!  NOTE:  This wee dog had been forced to wear a shock collar to “cure” his small dog bark.  He is still learning to allow his  little neck to be touched, but is getting more tolerant with time.

I am a kind and thoughtful kitten, quite studious as I contemplate whether or not to make a fool of myself playing with a toy or to try to be the scholar I would like to be.  I just LOVE people who read books!  Have you read Cat in the Hat?

Now that was a great novel!!  I am still a baby of 8 months old , a brother to Nancy and Gerald.  I happen to be a very exotic pattern of grey and black against white, a domestic shorthair of course!  Neutered, I have my shots up to date, dewormed and defleaed, and ready to read to you with my gentle purrs.

  Tiger

I have the most striking coat, just like a tiger!  Not only handsome, but with brains too—I am very intelligent, and attentive one and a half year old boy.  SO affectionate, I haven’t a mean bone in my body—which is not large so I will fit in anywhere and not take up much room!

I had been saved from euthanasia by a family with twin toddlers, and they all loved me so much.  But one of the babies got allergic to me and it broke their hearts to give me up, but Gerdy took me under her wing and is looking for my perfect new parents!  I am a real mix breed, but they think I have some Pointer in my family tree. I have SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE!  You can walk THIS Tiger and cuddle me all you want.

Neutered, shots including Bordatella, I have been heartworm tested negative, and treated for fleas and worms just in case. And I love car rides! Walking!  Chasing a ball!

  Clifford

Clifford is a 7 month old boy, a  tri-colour purebreed Bassethound, with all the endearing Basset personality and sense of fun!  This boy loves a bath and is quite patient!

He is very fun-loving and would get along with a cat or another friendly dog.  Definitely a family dog, but will need kind obedience training for the basics, as he is still a baby. He cannot be allowed to run loose or he will follow his nose to another province!  He needs a secure back yard, not to be left out in, but for exercise with you—Bassets love to run and play ball.

VERY family oriented, Bassets expect to spend ALL  their time around their people and while loving to run and play, are equally couch potatoes who enjoy curling up to watch chick flicks or the Big Game—snuggled up beside you.

Neutered, heartworm tested negative, shots including Bordatella (Kennel Cough) defleaed, dewormed,  this boy is a terrific Basset eager for his own family, after being dumped and saved from euthanasia.

Hi Folks!  I am a Golden Retriever Mix boy,  a big one, my dad might have been a travelling salesman of Leonberger!   I am the innocent victim of a divorce and was going to be euthanized at only 5 years old because “the dog has to go”.  But they kept the kids I guess.

Speaking of kids, I am GREAT with kids, other dogs & cats too and I am a sweet boy.  I sit down for treats. I am a truly kind-faced playful boy.  Neutered, shots plus Bordatella vaccine, defleaed & dewormed just in case & heartworm tested.

I was placed but I am back because while they loved me, my new people wanted a dog who could go on long walks in the country off-leash, and I failed miserably at that,-- kept wandering too far on my own with my new-found freedom.  They have other dogs who walk with them so they were concerned I would get lost.  I did fine on leash tho.

I am absolutely the most HANDSOME dog you ever saw.  I have zip and love to play, am nice and active too!

My life reads like a soap opera tale of abandonment and the saving grace of finding care and love in Gerdy’s Rescues.  Yet I am undaunted by all the emotional issues I have had to face.  I am SUCH a GOOD HUMOURED boy, WITHOUT AN OUNCE OF AGGRESSION in my young body!  In fact, I was seen surrendering a bone in my mouth to another dog!

I just want, deserve, and need a settled home with people to love and cuddle with! If I could have someone home all day with me, that is what I really prefer as I have had enough of being lonely. I need exercise, a place to run or have long walks with you so would love a safely fenced back yard to play with you in. Or to jog with you, or a good safe dog park. Gerdy says she is so proud of me and that I will do very well and make you proud to have me.

Extremely quietly affectionate, I have learned some basic commands too and am smart so I could learn more!  Can you write a happy ending to my story?  Neutered, shots, defleaed & dewormed (just in case), heartworm tested negative—I’m ready to go.

  Zack (aka Fred)

Fred is the perfect Basset Hound!  This 3 ½ year old charmer is a red and white bi-colour, and easy going.  He LOVES kids, other dogs, and cats.  He is pleasantly playful and not aggressive.

Fred is the perfect family dog!  Very affectionate and loves people and being around them.  He was given up because a child developed severe asthma, and the family had no choice.  This easy-going guy is around 63 lbs, neutered, shots up to date, heartworm tested negative, no fleas or worms.

Every bit the gentleman, he nevertheless loves to curl up near those he loves.  He loves his walks, and to play ball in the yard.  Fred has the typical appeal of a Basset and you cannot be cranky around one!  Very handsome and would be an ideal second dog as well.  He travels well in the car.

  Susu

Susu is a delightfully friendly 8 year old Pomeranian girl.  She still has many good years left and a heart full of love to give.

She was simply not wanted anymore, so was abandoned—a fate shared by other older dogs unfortunately,  when people want to start over with a young pup.  Susu will make a great family dog for a caring someone with a big heart.  She has a good sense of humour and play, and is definitely not acting her age! She has a sparkle in her eye, and loves to be fussed over.

Spayed, shots, including Kennel Cough, heartworm tested negative, defleaed & dewormed—just in case, she is ready to be loved again!

  Amelia

Hi there! I'm Amelia, a Black Lab Mix about 2 years old. Aren't I just demure in this photo? Ah, don't let it fool you, because in real life I am just an active little bundle of happiness and joy! I love everything and everyone! Really! I love kids, dogs, cats, birds, you name it!

The world is just my playground and I love it!
The people who loved me before were really good to me, that's why I am such a happy-go-lucky little girl. It's really too bad that I couldn't go with them to their retirement home. But that's okay, because they knew that Gerdy would find me the best-est home ever!

I'm spayed, vaccinated, heart wormed tested negative, de-wormed and de-fleaed. So, here I am! Now who is going to be the lucky one who gets to take ME home?!

  Pogo

I am a jolly little mini Teckel (Dachshund) one year old.  I was given up because my owner no longer had the time to look after me and she wanted me to have all the attention I truly deserve.

I am good with other dogs and cats but should not be in a home with very young children because I am a tiny dog and could be easily hurt if dropped or held improperly.

A very affectionate boy, I enjoy sleeping under the covers with you!  I need some practice with my housetraining skills as I was left alone a lot and was given no training, so how was I supposed to know?

I am an unusual colour, I am a brown and merle and because of that, I have a blue colour pattern too in the pigment of my eyes!  There is nothing wrong with my eyes!  Everyone says my eyes coordinate with my ears!

I am neutered, shots, heartworm tested negative, vet checked, no fleas or worms—I’m ready to be your cuddle bunny—and I LOVE being dressed up in nice shirts, coats, and jackets!

I am a beautiful Black Lab mix—actually I look like a Black Lab but for some white on my chest.  Everyone says I have the most beautiful Lab head and gorgeous eyes.  Oh, I am SUCH a KIND girl, I promise I would make a GREAT FAMILY DOG!

Very GENTLE, yet playful, I get along with other dogs and accept cats as well. I am very smart too!  I love to cuddle and spend quiet time cuddled up with you.  I am around a year old, I was given up because I was not permitted in the new apartment.  I am good in the car, housetrained—just the perfect girl for you!

Spayed, heartworm tested negative, shots up to date, vet checked, defleaed & dewormed (just in case)—I will be your devoted girl for the rest of my life and you will be so proud of me too.

Hi!  I am a GREAT family dog, 4 years old, Blond Lab -- maybe for older kids tho as I am big and strong!  People who have seen me at the vets say I am a show quality Lab—but that will not make me stuck up!  Maybe I am, who knows?  I LOVE children, I was in a family with young children but one was allergic, so they had to find me a new home and asked Gerdy for help.

I have a kind heart, good natured, and can shake a paw and sit.  You can teach me more.  I need a yard that is fenced in, and preferably someone home all day as I am a big dog to be crated all day, I am soooo social, I love to be with my people as do all labs—and I get along with other dogs & probably would with cats.  Someone who loves a big dog would love me!

Neutered, all shots updated, heartworm tested negative, flea and worm free—I am one big cuddle bunny at heart!

I am a 3 year old sweet girl, a Wheaten Terrier,  great for dog-allergic people, just as friendly and as loving as can be!  I love children and folks in general, I love EVERYONE!

Just because I have only 3 legs doesn’t mean I am a slouch in the activity department! Not so! The day after my leg was amputated after I was hit by a car, I was up and walking—boy did I adapt fast!  Nothing is going to slow me down—my attitude is real good, I am getting on with the rest of my life thanks to a great vet and Gerdy’s Rescues who helped me.

When my fur grows in I’ll bet you won’t even notice my missing leg, I am so steady on the other 3!  I still need to be spayed as it was too much to do all together  but I will have everything taken care of that Gerdy does in due time!

My vet is very pleased with my progress, now I need to get on with my life—can you keep up with me?

Dancer is spayed, heartworm tested negative, shots including Bordatella, and free of fleas and parasites.  Her coat is a joy to behold and she has the prettiest smile!

  Waldo

Where’s Waldo?  Waiting for you at Gerdy’s Rescues, and all set to go!  This 8 month old domestic shorthair is white with a tabby design, a playful neutered male with shots up to date. Again, part of a little family brought to safety by Gerdy.

Waldo earned his name by playing hide & seek, which he loves to do with the other Gerdy cats.  A sense of humour makes this little charmer a lot of fun to be around.  But when he goes to sleep, he is a little angel!  If you want an entertaining cat, Waldo’s your boy!
